This overnight trip is designed to make the most of the world-renowned offshore fishing off the coast of California. If you're looking to hook a trophy Bluefin or Yellowfin Tuna, this trip with Captain Ted is the way to do it!...Read More
On this trip, Captain Ted will take you offshore where you can go target famous pelagic predators such as Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Bigeye Tuna, and Yellowtail Amberjack! These fish are all prized for their beauty, speed, power, and excellent eating.
To find the fish, Captain Ted keeps his eyes on the birds, looks for "foaming" at the surface, and talks to other captains in order to hone in on where the fish are feeding. To catch Bluefin—which migrate constantly and can be found anywhere from 10-100 miles offshore—you'll employ a range of techniques including trolling, direct casting, run-and-gunning, and more. Bluefin travel in schools, so its not uncommon to get multiple "rods down" at once. Once one of these fish is hooked, it's on! Bluefin range widely in size, but even an 100-pounder will fight its heart out, easily outclassing other Tuna species such as Yellowfin.
You'll be out there aboard his 50' Symbol sportfisher. Originally built in 1985, she had a complete re-fit in 2000 and has been re-powered with twin Caterpillar 3126, 420-HP diesel engines. Electronics include a Furuno 500 sidescan sonar (installed in 2021), the latest technology in up/down sonar, dispatch radio/Satellite communications, Simrad “halo” radar, and three GPS units with AIS.
She is equipped with a beautiful open galley and seating arrangement, huge fishing cockpit with combing, high side railings for easy and safe passage around the boat, plus outriggers and a huge flybridge that will accommodate everyone onboard.
She's also decked out with three live bait tanks (plus two backup bait pump systems) that can easily carry enough live bait for multi-day trips. The yacht also has many sleeping arrangements to accommodate many scenarios, and can sleep up to six guests in comfort. To include a private room for a couple, we can sleep two in the private masters queen bed, three in the forward stateroom, and one in the mid-ship bunk. There is one large private head aboard that is adjacent to both staterooms. This vessel is also a stable ride, with Westmar Gyro/Fins. All of this adds up to an incredible boat that will keep you safe and comfortable.
A continental breakfast is served with non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. Feel free to bring your own beverages. Rods/reels, live bait and tackle are included, so all you need to bring is your sunscreen and your California Fishing Licenses!
