Join Captain Kent on an incredible trip offshore aboard his 37' Buddy Davis Express! After departing from Postcard Inn in Islamorada, FL you'll go looking for some beautiful big game Swordfish. Each season holds different opportunities such as Mahi Mahi in the Summer, Sailfish in the Winter and Snapper year-round. But according to Captain Kent, in Islamorada anything is possible!...Read More
On the full-day trip, you will start your day by leaving as early as possible to get to the bait patch (about 3 or so miles from the dock) hoping to catch bait such as cigar minnows, ballyhoo or Pilchards. Captain Kent will always provide frozen bait aboard just in case.
After securing the bait, you'll head offshore until you find a zone of life (birds, weed lines, debris and such). That’s when you'll start hunting and capitalizing on every opportunity to catch some beautiful Swordfish. You can do all kinds of fishing techniques in these waters, such as bottom fishing, trolling and kite fishing, but when targeting Swordfish, expect to mostly do deep dropping.
Deep drop fishing offshore in Islamorada is a style of fishing that is usually done with an electric reel or for those who want more of a challenge, it can be done with the hand crank. Typically, you'll be fishing anywhere from 300 to thousands of feet looking to target a variety of bottom feeding fish such as snapper, tilefish, grouper and swordfish.
If there's a method you want to try out, just let Captain Kent know and he'll get you properly set up and give you some expert pointers! Otherwise, Captain Kent will get you set up with the method that gets you the best chance at landing a Swordfish. To provide the best experience, the day is subject to change at any given point to ensure the best results for your fishing trip. But remember, it’s fishing - you don’t know until you go, anything can happen!

Captain Kent was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1971. When he was 13 he moved from one South Florida coast to the other, starting a new chapter in Punta Gorda. Armed with a college degree, Captain Kent moved to Aspen, CO to run a high end home theater and integration company from 1996 to 2017. After twenty years, he decided it was time to come back home to Florida and do what he loved. That year, he attended and graduated from Maritime Professional Training in Ft Lauderdale with a 100 ton master license (only certified to 25 ton due to sea time on a larger vessel to move up).
For Captain Kent, the certifications just kept piling on. In 2020, he received Advanced Marine Electronics installation certifications from National Maritime Electronics Association.
By 2021, Captain Kent was the captain of a vessel out of Johns Pass near Tampa and a mate on a grouper fishing ship out of Clearwater. He decided this wasn't enough fishing for him and purchased a Florida fishing charter company in Islamorada, which he still runs to this day.
An avid diver, spearfisherman and fisherman, Captain Kent will do everything he can to land you that trophy fish!

It was very choppy but no one can control Mother Nature. . We had the best time!! I don’t think anyone looks for fish harder than Captain Cole and his crew. We caught Cobia and yellow tail Snapper and Barracuda for a fun fight.

We fished for shark and tarpon from 5-8 pm. It started out slow, but at one point we had two 6ft nurse sharks on our lines, both over 150lbs. We caught a total of five big sharks.
