Fishing the offshore waters of North East Florida can be world class. Lots of options depending on the time of year and water temps. We usually break it down into two categories trolling and bottom fishing. Trolling we prefer using live bait and 30 lb. conventional tackle. Targeting king mackerel, cobia, bonita, barracuda, sailfish, mahi and sometimes even blackfin tuna. This all depends on conditions and the time of year we fish. Usually we start the day by throwing a cast net for live bait or stopping on a piece of structure to jig up some minnows using a sabibki rig. Once the baitwells are loaded its off to the fishing grounds. All depending on where the bite has been best is where we start to fish. Sometimes it can be a few miles out and other days we need to run 10-12 miles offshore. Bottom fishing can be wide open off of our coast as well targeting red snapper, vermillion snapper, black seabass, amberjack, grey grouper, cobia and triggerfish just to name a handful. The live bait can work very well on the bottom as well fresh cut bait and frozen bait. Until you have felt the fight of a mule snapper or a big amberjack it's hard to express in words how hard they pull. Captain Frank is a certified US Coast Guard charter boat captain. There is no need to purchase a fishing license, as you will be covered under his fishing license. From sight fishing big redfish to bottom fishing for various species, we can tailor a charter fishing trip to suit your desires. If you're in to sight fishing, we typically troll or pole the flats looking for redfish pushing water. Trout are usually found in the same areas, but in deeper water. Flounder can be found around docks or structure as well as up on the flats. If you are new to fishing, you can use live or dead bait such as shrimp, mullet or crabs. If you are more experienced and want to take that 1 shot at a redfish pushing down a bank, Captain Frank can arrange that as well. He likes to use swim baits, lures, spinner baits, etc. to target these beautiful fish. No matter what your fishing experience is, Captain Frank ensures you will enjoy your trip. As you can see there are several ways to target fish in Jacksonville and all are fun and exciting! All fishing gear is provided (rods, reels, bait, tackle), but feel free to bring your own fishing poles or tackle if you desire.
