Jetties are man-made underwater structures designed to break waves, protect harbors, and create calm areas for ships to dock. They're usually made by stacking concrete blocks on the ocean floor, which coincidentally provides perfect habitat for a wide variety of fish species. If you're looking to catch a big fish close to shore, the jetties off of Jacksonville, FL are a perfect place to do so!...Read More
Captain Dave loves to target these jetties, and catches a ton of species there, ranging from sharks such as Bonnetheads and Blacktips, to Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Redfish, Pompano, and more! On a 3/4 day trip with Captain Dave, you can mix it up and try a combination of drift fishing, jigging, live bait fishing—just let him know what species you want to target and how you like to fish, and he'll make it happen.
You'll be fishing aboard Captain Dave's 26' Black Lab center console. She's a great boat for this type of trip, and sports twin Suzuki engines to get you out there smoothly. She also has a T-top to keep you out of the sun! Captain Dave supplies the coolers, bait, rods, and reels—all you need to bring is proper clothing, some sunglasses, and rain gear, depending on the forecast.
For more than 25 years, Captain Dave has been a great instructor for those looking to become better at near coastal fishing. When you take a trip on his charter, you will be fishing in the protected inshore saltwater of the St. Johns River or deep-sea fishing in the artificial and natural reefs and nearshore of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, and Amelia Island.
