We set out to do some Mahi Mahi fishing while on vacation here in Key West. We booked a reservation and we were on our way at 0800 on a Sunday. Captain Frey took us out and about an hour into the trip we were still looking for our signs of life, not a bird in the sky, no weed line, no balls of bait, nodda. Captain Frey didn’t give up though. Eventually we found some life and landed a nice tuna. We moved a bit, and found another. The next thing you know we had all three lines tight and we got 3 more black fins in the boat. We continued this chasing birds and splashes on top of the water for the remainder of the day. It was great, our arms were TIRED. When we got back in, Captain Frey filet our fish and bagged them up. I’ve been on several charters before this and I’ll say without a double this was the most fun!
We took a (4) hour evening charter and did not expect the size and number of fish that Captain Garrett put us on. We caught (2) large Barracuda, (6) varied species that he cleaned and bagged for us. Garrett then suggested Hurricane Hole to take our fish to for dinner. Amazing suggestion as our fish was prepared grilled, fried and did not disappoint. While we were "bit-off" with (4) incredibly large bites, we still managed to stay on the bite the entire time we were out. I have fished off-shore many times, but have not had that consistent of a bite. Bottom line, stop looking at other charters and book Captain Garrett. He puts you on the fish!!! We will be back and will book an all day charter next time!!! Thanks Captain Garrett for the great trip and amazing life story!!!
We wanted a memorable day with a local charter with a fun captain that knew the best spots. I researched several charter companies and chose all in based off the reviews. We were not disappointed! It was a great well rounded experience we started by catching live bait to use to catch a couple huge amber jacks. After that we trolled for mahi mahi and hit a school of small ones, then went out to deep water and caught some black bellied rose, grouper, and tile fish. It was an action packed day and we rounded it out with the kids getting to feed sharks and tarpon in the marina with the remains as Capt Garret fillet the fish. Definitely a day to remember and the highlight of our vacation. Can’t wait to come back and do it again
