Head out for a trip to remember as you venture off the coast of St. Augustine with Captain Troy! On this 6 to 8-hour fishing trip you'll be aboard a comfortable 28' Seafox sportfisher that can go up to 60 knots, capable of doing some intense trolling or getting you to a bottom fishing spot in a hurry.
Trolling the open waters can produce hard fighting species like Cobia, Amberjacks, Kings (King Mackerel), Wahoo, Sailfish,
... Read More Mahi, Jack Crevalle, Tripletails and even Sharks. Trolling trips are great because the boat and the knowledge of your captain take care of half the work for you. You get to sit back, relax, enjoy the sweet sea breeze, and rest your arms while you wait for the reel to start screaming and your work to begin.
Bottom fishing changes the target species to an entirely different set of fish. You can expect delicious and hard-fighting reef species here; massive Goliath Grouper, amazing Trigger fish and the ever popular Red Snapper are just a few of the species encountered by anglers in St Augustine for as long as fishermen have been reeling fish in from the ocean bottom.
No matter the technique Captain Troy simply thinks like a fish and will show you how to hook into them. You won't be surprised to hear that he has won half the fly fishing tournaments he's been in.
Don't worry about not being prepared, as everything you need for a successful fishing adventure will be on board, including a bathroom. Captain Troy supplies all bait, tackle, gear and fishing licenses. All you need to bring is appropriate clothing for Florida's climate and polarized glasses.
About Your Guide
Independent Guide
Captain Troy was born and raised in the great state of Oklahoma, and started fishing when he was 3 and "bending the long rod" when he was 7. He has won First Place in 70% of the fly fishing tournaments he has entered, and placed 2nd place out of 430 kayakers using fly fishing gear only. His fly fishing prowess is hard to match, but it's not simply the skill of wielding a fly pole that has led to his success, it is his innate

Best fishing day ever! We told Captain Troy we were serious about getting "keeper" fish to eat, and he did not disappoint. A full 12-hour trip into the Atlantic got us 46 delicious keepers (variety of snapper species, Jacks, Cobia, trigger fish, and more) with plenty of non-stop action, thanks
...Read More to Troy's laser-focus on the fish. He provided good coaching on the best methods to drop our lines and haul up the bounty. He kept the boat on top of fish continuously, and had us haul up our lines as the boat drifted off so he could reposition the boat back over the fish. We literally spent no time at all just hanging out waiting for bites in an empty ocean. He knows some good spots; for the most part we were the only boat on the water as far as the eye could see; we only noticed a couple of other boats wander over toward us in one location. Action also included fighting with one or two giant groupers (line snapped off before we could get them to the boat) and a couple of small sharks. It got exciting when we had to quickly haul in a snapper to save it from the jaws of an impressive 6-foot hammerhead. Overall an exciting, successful, exhausting day on the water from sunup to sundown. Enjoyed grilled Cobia and Jack kabobs for dinner that evening.
