If you've been looking to chase some of Florida's craziest freshwater exotics and invasives, there's no better way to do it than from a kayak! You'll get up close and personal with some strange fish, including Clown Knifefish from Southeast Asia, Peacock Bass from South America, Mayan Cichlids, and many more! These fish are aggressive and voracious feeders, and they'll nail a variety of lures and baits. You'll be focusing on light-tackle techniques such as jigging and top-water retrieves. Peacock Bass are especially territorial and aggressive, and will hit irritating lures over and over when thrown correctly....Read More
On this trip, you'll be guided by either Denes or Robwill, both expert sport fishermen who've been catching lunkers from sit-on-top kayaks for years. They know how to find the fish, and will set you up with the right tackle and gear to go after fish right off the dock! Fishing from a kayak allows you to explore everything, from lakes to canals and more.
Denes and Robwill will provide everything you need for a blue-ribbon day, including an Old Town Predator PDL kayak, rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need to bring is sunscreen, polarized sunglasses—the glare can be nasty!—a hat, and proper clothing. If you want to bring electronics, please make sure they're in waterproof containers or bags.
Denes was born in Miami and surrounded by the ocean, he took to fishing at a young age. Through the years, he learned more and more about different kinds of fishing, from freshwater to eventually offshore. The biggest turning point in his life was when he picked up kayak fishing and decided that he wanted to share the amazing moments with others....Read More
His time spent at the famous Los Buzos Kayak Fishing Lodge in Panama helped him gain the experience to properly handle clients in some of the most extreme environments. Denes can’t wait to put you on the fish of a lifetime!
Robwill has been fishing in South Florida since 2006. Originally from Venezuela, he grew up catching giant Peacock Bass in the waters of the Caroni River. He got into kayak fishing in 2014 and has been hooked ever since! These days, he specializes in offshore kayak fishing, but never turns down a freshwater exotics trip. Some of his biggest accomplishments in kayak fishing are being part of the Old Town Kayaks Fishing Team and winning the 2019 Sailfish Smackdown Kayak Fishing Tournament, in Pompano Beach!
