Captain Carlos' freshwater charters allow you to catch a variety of species, you don't just target one. Some common catches include peacock bass, largemouth bass and clown knife fish. These trips are extremely consistent and can produce all day action. All too often, he puts his client on so many fish that trips are called early by his clients because their arms are too tired to continue! Check out the carousel above to see some of the species you can expect to catch. Every private charter you book is run solely by Captain Carlos. Charters take place aboard a 19' polar bay boat. This boat is powered by a 2021 Suzuki 150hp engine. The boat is equipped with Garmin Electronics and a Minn Kota trolling motor. This fishing charter service is very family-oriented and welcomes all ages and groups. Meet up location can occasionally change depending on the day and where the best fishing is in the area, but Carlos will commonly pick up his guests from The Hive Waterfront Restaurant & Tiki in Lantana, FL. The hive is located at 2412 Floral Rd, Lantana, FL 33462. It is a great place to grab some delicious food and drinks after your charter! You will need to buy your fresh water fishing license before the trip, but otherwise, Captain Carlos will have everything else you need for a succesful day out on the water. trip description for Fort Lauderdale Fishing Trip in Fort Lauderdale

A fully customized 52′ Hatteras with 892 Detroit Diesels – 750 horse power each. The cockpit is where all the action takes place – with one central fighting chair and plenty of rod holders. our Fort Lauderdale sightseeing boat is fully air conditioned, including TV, radio, refrigerator, and ice maker. One of the most comfortable Florida fishing charters. Arrive approximatly 15 minutes prior to your departure to allow the crew to get aquainted with everyone and figure out what species to target. Once on our way, the mate will go over the proper fishing techniques to be used. Don’t worry, no experience is needed. One of the best aspects of fishing in South Florida is how close the deep water is in close proximity to the beach. The average depth drops off 100 feet of water every mile traveled off land. It is a beautiful thing when you are fishing within 30 minutes of leaving the dock. Read More

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for fishing in Montura?

The most popular season for fishing in Montura is spring, and most anglers book their trips 18 days in advance.

We had a great time with Captain Ron and first mate Chris! They were really helpful and went out of their way to help us reel in our desired catch! They also offered water and ice which was life saving on a hot day! Assisted us with any questions we had about fishing and the area! We plan on booking with them again!

Capt. Rolland was an excellent guide he provided great equipment and education on the iguanas that we hunted. The action was consistent throughout the hunt. Capt. Rolland has an eagle eye to spot the iguana’s which keeps the hunt moving along with good numbers of iguanas.

The trip was excellent. Kassie was very helpful in finding the iguanas as we had a hard time seeing them in the beginning. She was great with communication before the trip as well. Lots of cold drinks and a great flat bottom boat making it easier to aim and provided a smoother ride. I highly recommend. We will be using her in the future for other trips. Maybe a hog hunt with her next time

    Trip: #1 Offshore Charter

  • ★★★★★
Captain Experiences - I discussed my trip (with Captain Janot) with Jake from Captain Experiences on Sunday 07/28/24. My Egyptian Goose and Iguana hunt with Captain Janot: Pros: Janot was a nice, pleasant guy with a clean boat, who gave me good safety instructions and had plenty of cold beverages. He made some adjustments to accommodate my health and age impairments. Janot got me on a good Egyptian Goose that I shot for a mounter in the first 30 minutes of the hunt. Cons: Janot hunted me for only 3.25 hours instead of the contracted 4 hours. Janot took me to his "honey hole" and we found darn few iguanas; Janot even openly admitted that the City had very recently been in the "honey hole" to take out the iguanas. Instead of 1) taking me to another hunting area with a substantial number of shootable iguanas or 2) letting me know ahead of time that the City had all but wiped out the iguana crop so I could try to book another hunt with some other outfitter or 3) hooking me up with another outfitter, Janot chose to take me to an area he knew was nearly devoid of iguanas. And Yes, there was a few, but nearly all of the iguanas that we saw were less than 1.5 pounds. Prior to the hunt, Janot told me that I should be able to harvest 15-20 and maybe as many as 30 iguanas depending on how long it would take us to get me a goose. In 2.75 hours, he managed to get me 6 iguanas - a good 5 pounder, a tailless 4 pounder, two 1.25 pounders and two .75 pounders. We may have seen about 200 total iguanas of which about 28-30 were shootable. Of those 28-30 shootable iguanas, we harvested only 6, wounded about 14-15 that got away, and missed about 8-10. Janot did not have a retrieving dog which would have really helped with those wounded iguanas that made it into the water or that crawled away into an area where shooting wasn't possible but retrieval was possible. All in all, based solely on my hunt with Janot, I give Janot as a man a thumbs up. I give Janot as a boat captain a thumbs up. I give Janot as an outfitter a thumbs down. And I give the hunt two thumbs down. I would never ever book another hunt with Janot unless he paid my way back and forth to the hunt site from Montana and gave me a free hunt. This was an expensive hunt that was almost completely a bust !!! Janot could have and should have done much better! Kim Latterell Billings, Montana

I took the family (wife, 2 boys and grandma) for a 6 hour charter and had a great time with Captain Ron and the crew, Chris and Brian. They were friendly, safety conscious and knowledgeable. Listening to other boats on the radio that day, the fishing wasn't great yet we hooked a barracuda and a bonita almost as soon as we dropped lines. This was followed up with a nice size mahi that grandma fought 😂 (they cleaned dockside and we took home to eat), 3 more barracudas and an amberjack. Chris was on the ball with keeping bait fresh and when we had multiple fish on, he had complete control of the cockpit. Pick up and drop off was easy. The boat had A/C and a bathroom that was a must have given the family and on a hot day, this made all the difference. I'd rebook the charter.
