All of the Salmonids—the family that includes Salmon and Trout—love to hit flies and baits drifting on the bottom of the river, and you'll have a blast fighting them into the net.
Captain Rick has fished this area for decades, and he's the resident expert when it comes to the best spots, tackle, and techniques. This walk-and-wade trip is the perfect way to get full access to the best holes and hotspots, with Rick there to offer technique tips and pointers.
His trips include all the fishing gear, so all you need to bring are your own waders and boots, warm clothes and raingear, sunglasses, and any personal gear you want to have. Get out there and see what upstate New York has to offer!
About Your Guide
Captain Rick has been fishing Lake Ontario for over 37 years, and licensed for 13. He has been a forerunner in testing many of the fishing techniques and products used on the "Big Lake" today, and has written about his techniques and gear extensively.

Read More the New York Sportsman's Hall of Fame for his work hosting a national outdoor TV show, "Northeast Great Outdoors", which was seen on the Fox Network, MSG Network, The Outdoor Channel and the OLN Network. He is also a published outdoor writer with writings in the Catch of the North magazine and the Lake Ontario Outdoors magazine!
Rick has a long-standing love for fishing Lake Ontario and takes his passion for fishing to the next level. This heart-felt passion for fishing the "Big Lake" is what drives him to be so successful at it. Being one of the younger charter aptains working today, he still commands respect from his fellow colleagues as a truly gifted Salmon and Trout fisherman.
He takes pride in the work he does on and off his boat. With adults, and even with the young fishermen of the future by giving back to the community by promoting education about fishing in the form of free seminars and special events that Rick puts on throughout the community. Packing / Extras
Everything you'll need for your trip
Bring all snacks and beverages in unbreakable containers. Sunglasses, hat, and sun tan lotion or sunscreen. Rain gear just in case. Camera. A large cooler to transport your catch. Seasonal clothing (much more than you think). Rods, reels & tackle included.
This trip is managed by an outfitter. Rick will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.
Payment & Tipping
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancellation/Refund Policy
The deposit for this trip is non-refundable (but if the weather is too bad to go out, you will still receive a refund).

Just show your guide your QR code on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!
In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a full refund. Your safety is our top concern.
