In my early life I spent a lot of my extra time on the river, observing the fish, what they eat, where they hide and how environmental variables affect their appetites and tendencies. I learned the different aspects of fly fishing and once I became an adult I realized it was the primary activity that I wanted to do for enjoyment (AKA: my dream job).
I moved here 21 years ago to be in the middle of the amazing, pristine waters of Central Oregon. Just being located in the beautiful city of Bend has given me unprecedented access to some of the world’s best fly fishing opportunities like mountain streams, high desert streams and rivers, and of course the major western rivers.
I cater to both beginners and those who have experience but need to refine their technique and learn the secrets of the river. Matching the hatch and proper presentation is the key. Knowing were the productive holes are is also imperative. I run only catch and release trips using only barbless hooks for the preservation of wild native fish."

My whole family (all 4 of us) went out with Steve, who's an expert guide. He took us to places that fit our abilities and we caught plenty of fish throughout the day. We walked about a mile from our parking area to get to the good spots. We had ...Read More the weather working with us, which also helped. Steve also helped teach those of us who didn't know how to fish at all to fly fish properly. He's a real master of the river! He knew what holes they'd be in, what flies to use, taught us how to use the current to place the fly, fishing etiquette... yes, I think he really showed us how to BURY THE HOOK! And, what a great experience for our kids to learn from such a pro their first time out too. We all can't wait until our next day on the river with Steve!
