About Your Guide

Jeff Kline is one of the most experienced Hilton Head fishing charters out there. Originally from Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore, he's lived on Hilton Head Island for over 20 years. While not natively from HHI, he's fished saltwater since his earliest days.

Capt Jeff is a former banker who worked with Merrill Lynch, CoreStates Bank (now Wachovia) and Commerce Bank (now TD Bank), and credits this background for his dedication to running a clean and tight ship.

He and his crew like hosting families and often get three generations on the same trip. They also host bachelor parties and groups of Marine Drill Sergeants from neighboring Paris Island as well.

The Boats: Captain Jeff's fleet offers three of the largest and most comfortable charter boats on Hilton Head Island:

The Gullah Gal, a 34′ Crusader Fly Bridge, is Captain Jeff's smoothest and calmest ride at a crusing speed of 20 mph.

True Grits, a 34′ Fitz Fly Bridge, is a great all-around performance option with a cruising speed of 25 mph.

Captain Jeff's newest boat, Honey B, is a 35′ Bertram with 740 HP. This vessel has a cruising speed of 30 mph to get you on the fish fast!

All boats host 6 people maximum, offer space in the shade, and feature onboard restrooms.

Captain Jeff and First Mate Seth were outstanding! Captain Jeff recommended the 6 hour trip to get best experience for this time of year. Our goal was to get a bunch of action and take home the keepers for dinner. His recommendation was spot on. We caught a ton of Black Sea Bass and caught enough for dinner. First Mate Seth did a great job connecting with the kids while keeping the hooks ready to go with bait. We truly enjoyed our time on the water with this crew. We will be be back again!

First of all, let me say that we can’t wait to go out with Captain Jeff and his first mate Seth again. And the True Grits was comfortable and a sturdy boat. Captain Jeff put us on the sharks quickly and between us we caught 9 fish (and a Whiting that I just couldn’t seem to hold on to!) which included Bonnethead Sharks, Reef Sharks, and Bull Sharks. Not only was the fishing fun, but their company and hanging out was worth the trip. Both Captain Jeff and Seth were engaging and funny. Looking forward to our next trip with you guys! If you’re looking for a family friendly trip, or just a knowledgable and experienced Captain and Crew, look no further than the True Grits and Captain Jeff. Thank you again for a memorable trip!
