Had a great morning on the water with Capt. Mike. While he was demonstrating the technique to use with croakers he managed to hook up and let me wife bring in an over slot sized bull redfish. Pretty impressive timing with that one! As our story continues we started fishing and chatting. While we were primarily fishing for speckled trout I mentioned I would really like to catch some flounder as well. Of course this means that I never got one but my wife got not 1 but 2!!! Anyway I guess that was ok since it was her birthday. Overall we caught 3 different keeper species and only had to deal with those pesky cat fish a couple time over 6 hours. Overall an A+ experience and look forward to doing this trip again.
Captain Mike kept us on fish throughout the day. He is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced with live bait fishing. The one critique we have is that he seemed to get irritated when the beginner fishermen on our trip made mistakes. However, he kept us moving to new spots every time the bite slowed down and gave us all the information we needed to successfully fish this area in the future. If you need a guide to chat with who is good with beginners, you might want to look elsewhere. If catching fish throughout the day is your main priority, Captain Mike is more than capable of making your trip a success.
Had a great day. Met Captain Mike with my 6 year old son at 5:30 am. He had us immediately on the fish. I think our first catch was on our first cast. He knew when to move the boat and where to go. We tried multiple spots and had some pretty good luck. We limited out on specs within about 2 hours. All in all it was a great day on the water.
