About Your Trip

Head out with Captain Sammy mock to chase tailing Reds across the flats of the Lower Laguna Madre. Captain Sammy has a lifetime of experience on these South Texas waters and is the ultimate shallow water guide for this area!

You will launch aboard his 24’ Dargel flats boat, which can handle up to 4 anglers. She’s powered by a 250 HP Suzuki engine, which will get you to the flats quickly before he cuts the motor for stealth. With the big motor off, he will turn his trolling motor on to sneak up onto the flat and start looking for fish. Positioned up on the bow with a rod in hand, you can help Captain Sammy look for the fish as well. When one is in range it will be up to you to make a good cast and hook into the fish. But don't worry, Captain Sammy will be standing by to give you tips and help in any way he can.

Though hooking into Redfish happens to be his specialty and main target for this trip usually, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and Flounder also call these mudflats their home and no one will stop you from trying to get a good cast in on them as well!

Capt. Sammy brings along all the rods, reels, and tackle needed to suit both experienced and novice anglers. At the end of the trip, he’s happy to clean and fillet any catch you choose to keep. All you’ll need to bring are any drinks and snacks you’d like to enjoy and, most importantly, a valid Texas fishing license.

About Your Guide

Captain Sammy Mock has been fishing with his dad and grandad since he was 8 years. Since fishing runs in the family, transitioning into becoming a guide was a natural choice for him. After 30 years of working at US Postal Services, he retired and took up fishing and guiding full time. He is a kind and generous man with a wicked sense of humor. He loves taking out children and teaching them about this sport and the local fisheries!
