About Your Trip

Discover the wild heart of the Lowcountry on Captain Scott’s Fripp Inlet Ecosystem Cruise—a one-of-a-kind journey through the dynamic and diverse coastal habitats that make this region so special. Departing from Russ Point Boat Landing on the southwestern side of Hunting Island, this tour offers an unforgettable glimpse into the living, breathing ecosystem where marsh, inlet, and ocean collide.

As you launch from Russ Point, you’ll be greeted with sweeping views of Fripp Inlet, the
waterway that separates Hunting and Fripp Islands. From there, the adventure unfolds as you wind through narrow tidal creeks, skirt the edge of expansive marsh flats, and make your way out toward the open ocean. It’s a rare opportunity to witness the full range of coastal landscapes in one trip.

What makes this cruise truly special is the variety. One moment, you’re navigating through quiet, winding creeks lined with oyster beds and spartina grass; the next, you’re gliding past barrier island beaches with the Atlantic stretching out before you. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to spot dolphins, wading birds, and other native wildlife, all while learning about the critical role these habitats play in the coastal ecosystem.

This tour also provides a unique vantage point of Hunting Island—a favorite Lowcountry destination that looks completely different when viewed from the water. From this perspective, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the island’s natural beauty and ecological importance, far beyond what the hiking trails and beaches reveal.

Captain Scott, a Beaufort local and seasoned waterman, brings deep knowledge and personal stories that bring the environment to life. His 17’ Key Largo center console boat is nimble, stable, and perfectly suited for this kind of in-depth exploration—capable of handling everything from shallow creeks to light ocean chop. With space for up to four guests, this is a private and custom-tailored experience—no big groups, no cookie-cutter routes, just your party and the wild Lowcountry.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a photographer, or just someone looking to connect with the natural world in a meaningful way, the Fripp Inlet Ecosystem Cruise offers an experience that’s both educational and awe-inspiring.
