About Your Trip

Fishing on the Buffalo Bayou might not be for everyone.

We're hunting down prehistoric animals that are not easy to catch, on unforgiving water that sits right in the middle of the 4th largest city in the country, with no boating infrastructure or amenities.

Buffalo Bayou has no docks, no marina, no restrooms, no public access. We'll be in Houston the whole time, but we'll be so far from civilization at the same time that we might as well be in a remote river in the woods. The high tides will cover up all the sand banks and beaches so we will likely sit in the boat the entire time until we land a fish too big to bring on board.

In the occasion that the fish doesn't fit in the boat, we'll pull up somewhere shallow enough to get out of the boat, in the water, to handle the fish, get pictures, and safely release the fish.

During the warm months of the year, the Alligator Gar are our main target. They breathe air. So we can find a good spot that has a population of them but finding the right approach to get them to eat a bait can take hours.

In the cooler months, Redfish and Catfish become more active and can be caught fairly easily throughout the day and night.

I'll have everything needed for fishing including a cooler with water and ice, but it will have room for your drinks and food. Shade can be hard to find, please bring hats and clothes you can be in the sun with. If you need to use sunscreen, please do not spray it near your bait.

While the Buffalo can be a challenging water to fish, it can also be very rewarding knowing you'll be the only civilian boat hunting for dinosaurs out there, and you're only a short ride to Downtown Houston away from landing a record-breaking fish.

I'll have everything needed for fishing as well as a cooler with water and ice but please feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks, they'll fit in the cooler. If you have some fishing gear you would like to break in, please feel free to bring it along but let me know ahead of time so I can leave out some of my gear.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 4 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 4 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
