A world class fisherman, and an even better man, Captain Pepis can do it all, and can cater your trip to whatever fishing experience you have or activities you'd like to fit in on your trip. So whether you want to fish, snorkel or just enjoy a trip on Captain Pepi's boat (or a combination of all 3!), this is the perfect activity to do with kids, family or a group of friends. The waters of the West Coast of Puerto Rico are known as the Mona Passage, where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean. The fishing in Rincon is world class: ESPN's Billfish Extreme Release League rated Western Puerto Rico as #3 in the world for Blue Marlin fishing. The tuna, wahoo and mahi-mahi fishing is top-notch as well. The nearby deep sea waters are warm, clear and blue water and make for excellent fishing throughout the whole year! Rates include tackle and refreshments (water and soda). Feel free to bring your food or snacks, there is enough cooler space for anything you might want to keep cold. While this trip isn't nessecarily a grocery run to fill the freezer, Captain Pepi has no problem sharing the catch. You will always be able to take enough fish to eat for yourselves and your traveling party. He can also help make arrangements with local restaurants in town to have your catch cooked for you once you're back at the dock. Captain Pepi recommends you dress in light clothing, cap/visor and boat shoes/sandals are alsi recommended. He usually keep enough sunblock on the boat, but if you wish you can also bring your own. In terms of things you should not bring: No bananas will be allowed onboard! This is an old fishing superstition, but take my word for it, there may be some truth to it. Please no hard-soled shoes on the boat either (rubber tennis shoes are fine). You may bring beverages or beer, but no glass bottles please. Also, please bring sunscreen, but no spray sunscreen as it causes the deck to become slippery. Captain Pepi is excited to take you on an excellent catered experience, and while species are never guaranteed, see his Seasonal fish Calendar below for an idea of what species will be available during your trip: JANUARY: Wahoo, Kingfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish and Blackfin Tuna FEBRUARY: Mahi-mahi, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Kingfish and Blackfin Tuna MARCH: Mahi-mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and Blackfin Tuna APRIL: Mahi-mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish and Blackfin Tuna MAY: Blackfin Tuna and Mackerel. trip description for Puerto Rico Peacock Bass Slam in Vega Baja

If you thought that America's best Peacock Bass fishing ended in Florida, think again! Puerto Rico has many lakes chock full of these big, aggressive fish, which are just waiting to hammer your lure or bait. Let Captain Luis be your guide to the best freshwater fishing that the "Isla de Encanta" has to offer on this awesome trip. Contrary to their name, Peacock Bass aren't "true" bass at all, but are actually a type of cichlid native to the Amazon and Orinoco river basins in South America. However, they've been introduced to many warm freshwater environments in the Southeast U.S. and the Caribbean, giving you a great opportunity to feel the fight on these champion gamefish. In addition, Puerto Rico's many lakes are also home to prizewinning Largemouth Bass, which compete with Peacocks for territory and prey. Captain Luis has years experiences chasing both of these fish, and knows exactly how to put you on 'em, whether you're an advanced angler or still pretty green. You'll be fishing with classic Bass techniques, such as jigging and topwater retrieval. Bring your A-game on this trip, because when a big Peacock hits your line, you better be ready for a fight! You'll be casting from the deck of Captain Luis shallow-draft Mako, a perfect vessel for chasing freshwater gamefish in shallow water! She sports an Evinrude outboard so you can get to the hot spots quickly, plus a fishfinder to help you locate your targets. Captain Luis will bring everything you need for a great trip, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need to bring is proper clothing, sun screen, a cooler with your snacks and drinks, and a smile! Read More
