trip description for Walk-and-Wade Adventure in Fort Worth

Wade into the water with Greg for an exciting fly-fishing adventure on some beautiful Texas rivers! On this 4 to 8-hour fly-fishing trip, Greg will take you on a Walk & Wade trip out on the Brazos River or a smaller tributary such as the Paluxy River. Here, he'll give you some of his expert fly fishing tips as you target several fish species including Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, Hybrid Striped Bass, White Bass, and a variety of the Sunfish species. There is even Carp, Smallmouth Buffalo, Freshwater Drum and Gar. No matter your experience level, from beginners to experienced, Greg is passionate about making your day on the water one to remember. Whether it’s wading the scenic Brazos River or wading the “hill country like” Paluxy River, Greg will guide you to a Texas sized, fun filled, fly fishing trip of a lifetime! Greg will provide flies, leaders & tippet, fly rods & reels (available by request, please make arrangements prior to your trip), drinks, snacks and will even do some expert photography to leave you with some pictures! Lunches will be provided on the full day trips as well. All you need to bring is a valid Texas freshwater fishing license, breathable waders, and we recommend polarized sun glasses, a hat, rain gear & clothing for the season and sunscreen. You are welcome to bring our own fly rod and reel. He recommends a 4-6 weight Fly Rod for wade trips on smaller waters such as the Paluxy River. However, on the Brazos River he prefers a 6-8 weight Fly Rod. Big flies allow opportunities to catch some bigger fish but require a heavier fly line. Big fish are also easier to control and land on a 6-8 weight fly rod. In terms of lines, he recommends floating, weight forward and shorter taper fly lines. On the Brazos River, there are times when an intermediate sink, or sink tip and full sinking lines are best. Enjoy your day on the water and catch some fish with Greg! Read More

trip description for Brazos River Drift Trip in Granbury

Enjoy this trip on one of North Texas' most beautiful rivers—the Brazos. You'll be in a perfect place to catch over ten species of freshwater sportfish, all while surrounding yourself with some of the best scenery this part of the state has to offer. From November to February, Texas Parks and Wildlife stocks this section of the Brazos with Rainbow Trout, so you can get a Rocky Mountain fly fishing experience without having to leave the state. This trip is a great "mixed bag" adventure, and because Bass, Trout, Gar, Cats, and Crappie all eat some of the same bugs, you never know what species is going to blow up your fly! Wade trips are also a great way for you to work on technique by receiving specific, one-on-one instruction from a professional fly fishing guide. Your guide, Ben, will provide everything you need for an epic trip, including rods, reels, tippet, and flies. The fish are biting—what are you waiting for?! Read More

trip description for Brazos River Exclusive Access in Graford

For a lot of Texans, the Brazos river might evoke notions of urban, domesticated, and overcrowded water. Which for a lot of stretches on this river, might be true... But JD specializes in fishing a stretch of the Brazos that is all but inaccessible to the daily fishermen and remains a safe haven of sublime water & wildlife, beautiful cut-banks, and Giant Largemouth Bass! JD has 4 private access points along the 20 mile stretch from PK Lake down to Farm to Market #4, that otherwise would take multiple days to float your way through. Instead JD invites you to come fish with him for half day 4 hour or full day 8 hour trip targeting that same incredible water in half the time! JD will be rowing you down the river in his customized NRS Star fishing raft. Which provides a comfortable ride for 2 guests. Additional guests will be on a separate boat with another guide, but ya'll will stick together, and can mix and match who fishes with who as you drift along. Whilst floating through the slow pools as you move down the river you'll be hammering the banks with poppers looking to excite some big fish for some topwater action. But when a run or deep pool looks particularly tasty, JD will tie the boat up on the bank so ya'll can get out and hone in on the best water and the biggest fish! The raft will be loaded up with all the necessary gear, water, and ice you'll need for the day and JD recommends bringing your favorite snacks, drinks, or even a light lunch, but the only thing you need to bring with you is a Texas freshwater fishing license, so don't forget that! Recent Reviews of Captain Experiences

  • ★★★★★
Excellent guide and excellent experience. We had a successful hunt. The captain experience website, however, was incorrect, it listed morning hunting as an option when this was not accurate. This Did cause some minor inconvenience with planning, travel, overnight stay, etc. that said, we would continue to use the service and same Guide for the same or similar hunts in the future.

Adam C. with Blake E. of Nocona, Texas

  • ★★★★★
The team was excellent and we had an hugely successful hunt. My husband and I booked this to celebrate our anniversary and although my husband has hunted a lot, this was my first time. The location we were taken to was great, the decoys and the blind were set up perfectly, and our guide (Jesse) was an EXCELLENT caller! NOTE: we were paired with two other hunters (which we were not expecting - and was not communicated beforehand) and although it worked out fine, just something to be aware of.

We had a great time with Keith. Very knowledgeable and knows where the big fish are.
