Loosen up those shoulders and get ready for a night of flounder gigging with Captain James!

If you’ve never been flounder gigging, don’t worry! Captain James loves teaching beginners the tips and tricks of flounder gigging. No matter if you are a beginner or expert gigger, you will be in great hands.

Captain James’ custom-built 18’ boat is specially designed for flounder gigging. She is equipped with special underwater lights that illuminate the flounder that burrow themselves in the sand. These trips last 5-hours and take place in the cool of the night, usually between 1-2 feet of water.

Capt. James will provide all the gigging equipment and will clean your catch at no additional cost.

Captain James offer Aransas Pass fishing charters and specializes in Rockport flounder gigging trips.

Captain James learned to fish as a boy after his dad and uncle taught him the ropes. His passion for fishing remains constant, and he enjoys nothing more than passing on his knowledge to the next angler. Captain James is a dedicated and hard-working fishing guide who puts his all into every trip.

Your trip with Captain James will begin from the famous Conn Brown Harbor. This area is home to more Flounder gigging guides than anywhere in the world and provides night after night of smiling faces and loads of fish. This charter will show you a great time gigging for Flounder, and you may even find some Sheepshead and Black Drum on the end of your gig!

Captain James runs a custom-built 18’ shallow-water boat specifically designed for Flounder gigging. It provides a dry ride with up-to-date engines and features.

That being said, it’s most coveted attribute is the custom lighting on the boat. Flounder bury themselves in sandy bottoms and camouflage, so the high-intensity lights that shine down make it easy to spot them!

Captain James and crew offers 5-hour night trips that can accommodate up to 6 anglers. They will provide all gigging equipment, and will clean your catch back at the docks. Gigging is done in 1-2 feet of water, in the cool of the night and under bright lights from the comfort of the boat, which means no Texas scorching sun!

Flounder gigging is very popular, and Captain James regularly books weekend evenings 6 months in advance. All ages are welcome to join the fun, no matter if you're a beginner or expert gigger, you will be in great hands!

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate you’ll be covered by our 100% weather guarantee and you won’t lose your deposit.

We vet our guides to make sure they are the best of the best. We want guides who not only put you on 'em, but show you a great time, keep you safe, and give you a memorable experience with your group.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
