trip description for Euro Carp Trip - Austin, TX in Austin

Head out for a day trip friends, or a night trip after work to hook into some freshwater freaks of nature, and prepare yourself for a fishing experience unlike anything you've ever seen before! Pound for pound some of the hardest fighting freshwater fish, and giants at that, are waiting for you inside Austin's city limits, and our team has a unique and incredibly efficient method for getting you hooked up! “Euro” Carp fishing is a bait fishing technique with European gear that is specifically engineered for catching giant Carp, and can also be used to target Smallmouth Buffalo (in the Fall and Winter months). This gear can’t be purchased anywhere locally. Infact, there is only one retailer in the across the United States, and that's merely an online shop out of Oklahoma! 12 ft rods, big pit reels for playing large fish, and casting up to 100 yards are the first marks of this unique freshwater gear. Each setup also comes with bite alarms that sound when a fish takes, and a reel set to free spool allowing the fish to run until you get to the rod. Then comes the challenge of playing a freshwater giant, on a #6 hook, all the way to the net! From there the fish is handled very carefully, unhooked, weighed, photographed, and finally released. All of the gear is centered around fish care. They provide landing mats that allow you to unhook the fish without it harming itself from thrashing and a sling that allows us to safely weigh and release the fish. Our team has got you covered with all the gear you didn't even know you needed! So all you need to bring is your Texas Fishing License and your A-Game and our team will take care of the rest! Learn to catch giant Largemouth with one of the best in the business as you head out with Grant on a half-day or full-day outing on Lake Austin or Lady Bird Lake (Lake Austin is the Land of the Giants by the way). Grant specializes in throwing big swimbaits, 4-7inch long and usually articulated for more realistic action as you move the bait past a hungry Behemoth. This technique is pretty unique and requires a bit of knowledge to fish effectively, Grant has not only mastered this technique but he is also prepared to share his knowledge with you so you can catch Lunkers like his on your own. The reward is well worth the time, just check the pictures above!! On the day of your trip, Grant will pick you up in his G3 Eagle 175 Bass Boat with a 70 two-stroke Yamaha strapped to the back and equipped with Minn Kota Trolling motor on the front. This boat provides a comfortable ride out to Grant's favorite spots and can get super skinny and stealthy once he drops that trolling motor in the water as well. Mid-day heat is when Grant usually has the best success with big fish, so depending on when you'd like to get out on the water, Grant is usually willing to accommodate you. He will provide all the necessary rods, reels, tackle, gear, and of course swimbaits for your trip. Spring Fishing report: Several lakes are fishing good right now in the central Texas area. We are catching 15-30 or more on a half day trip on Travis, Decker, LBJ and Buchanan. There are other lakes doing good as well. There are fish shallow and deep, but the big fish are shallow right now as they are spawning or close to it. If you are after that fish of a lifetime or just bigger fish, Lake Falcon and Choke Canyon is producing some great quality fish right now. It's always a great time to get that child on some fish. I would be happy to help you do that so book your trip today! Read More

jake was fantastic. we caught 16 large mouth and guadalupe bass during our 4 hour trip, and we had a great time doing it. we're novice fishermen (my 19 year old son and i), but jake was patient, positive and super instructional. it was lots of fun all the way around!

  • ★★★★★
Kevin was an awesome guide! I took my 10 year son and we were able to catch almost 30 fish, mostly perch, sunfish but did catch some big black drum and catfish. We caught fish almost the whole time we were out which is what I was looking for since we are both inexperienced, my son had a great time and made good memories.

Aaron knows the lakes around Austin and has plenty of material onboard. We catched several fishes while weather conditions where difficult. Additionaly he was flexible and changed the trip date to get a better weather window. Aaron fits your expectations and is very friendly. I definetly recommend.

Kevin was fantastic! We had a cold day but spirits were high and fishing was great!!! Caught 7 fish! Kids had a blast and adults enjoyed seeing the lake real estate!

Leah K. with Kevin M. of Austin, Texas

  • ★★★★★
We had a great experience with Captain Kevin. He has a great rig, great personality and put us on enough Large Mouth to please me. I took my 10 year old son because he said he wanted to catch a large mouth. Kevin came through with an extra life jacket too (I forgot one for my son). One hiccup was we were going to meet at different lake but they closed it due to the horrible drought we are in. Kevin audibled and we meet at Lake Bastrop which was more convenient for me anyway. I would definitely recommend this easy to use app and would definitely hire Captain Kevin again. He had everything we needed and got us catching fish quickly. He is really good with kids too!

Robert B. with Kevin M. of Austin, Texas

  • ★★★★★
Kevin was awesome and so was his boat

George P. with Kevin M. of Austin, Texas

  • ★★★★★
My experience was wonderful with Captain Kevin! He texted a couple days before the trip to ask if we could head out earlier than our scheduled time due to the heat and go try to beat the weekend rush of recreational boaters. So I met him at the boat ramp, which was very easy to find, at 6:15 and we headed out. The first place we fished was where we caught the biggest fish, pictured below, in the first 20 minutes of fishing. Things were a little slow the rest of the day, but we caught probably around a dozen fish, targeting and catching a variety of different species. . Captain Kevin was extremely friendly, and knows more about fishing than just about anybody I’ve met. He knew I’m a beginner, and was very kind and patient in teaching me and explaining everything to me. We swapped stories, got to know each other, and had the most wonderful time. I would highly recommend fishing with Captain Kevin.

Chad G. with Kevin M. of Austin, Texas

  • ★★★★★

Randy is a great guy, got me and my 9 year old on plenty of fish. Couldn’t recommend him enough!

Grant was a very pleasant and helpful guide for my daughter and me. Fishing was slow, on a very hot day. We both caught some nice bass, despite being on the river with several hundred July 4th weekend kayakers and paddleboaters, as well a bat watchers under the bridges. Grant is very knowledgeable and great fun to fish with. Highly recommend.

Bill I. with Grant L. of Austin, Texas

We had an amazing time out on Lake Travis with our guide Captain Aaron. Aaron reached out to us before our trip to check in and answer any questions we had. He provided great directions to the floating dock to meet him. We had a super fun morning out on the lake fishing for Bass. We got to try several different Rod & Reel combos, and various spots on Lake Travis. At the end of our trip he gave us a tour of Lake Travis! We will definitely book with Captain Aaron again.

Jane I. with Aaron L. of Austin, Texas

Jake brought my brothers and me out onto Lake Travis for Guadalupe Bass. Jake put all of us onto Guads and multiple other species as well. Jake was great with explaining everything he did and how to best use different techniques for catching fish. He was also incredibly friendly and personable and was hands down the best guide I’ve ever been on. This was honestly one of the funnest days of fishing I’ve ever had, and it definitely was for my brothers as well! I will probably make another trip with my brothers in the future with Jake for another great day! I highly recommend Jake to anglers of any experience who want to get on some nice fish and just have a great time! Thanks again for a great time, Jake! Hopefully we’ll get back out there with you again!
