About Your Trip

This epic fishing charter is fully focused on finding, hooking, and landing one of the toughest fish in the Gulf of Mexico, the Amberjack. These fish are famously stubborn fighters, known to many as "reef donkeys" for their orneriness and difficulty.

Amberjack are big, aggressive predatory fish related to other jacks, jack mackerels, runners, and scads. All of these fish are opportunistic feeders that will go after a variety of baits, depending on the conditions and time of year. To hook one, you'll use a few different lure styles and baits—you can rely on Captain Jerry to make sure you have the right tackle to get big bites!

You'll fight the fish from Captain Jerry's beautiful 31' Cape Horn center console, a hardy fishing machine that is built to tackle everything from inshore to offshore water. She's solid fiberglass, and is driven by twin Suzuki 300s, so you will be out on the best fishing areas in no time. She's decked out with all the right gear and electronics to maximize your chances of success, and has some comfy bean bag chairs on deck as well.

Captain Jerry will provide everything you need for an epic trip, including rods, reels, baits, and tackle. We recommend that you bring proper clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and a cooler with some snacks and drinks. Get out there and hook a personal best!

Jerry and his sidekick were incredible. We haven’t been fishing for the past 10 years or so, and they showed us the ropes again. Weather was great and our catch was nice considering the fact that I got seasick. Not because of them. I’d recommend again!!!

Captain Walt and Keith were fantastic! Extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful, plus great to crack a joke and share a laugh with. The waves were choppy when we went out and Walt & Keith guided us through it and took us around the area when we eventually got too sick haha. Highly recommend! Booked charter 6 months in advance only to have assigned captain (Jerry) cancel on us the evening before our charter. Never got a call or explanation from Jerry so it kind of left us feeling like we had been dumped. Adam from Captain Experience found us a replacement Captain (Chase) that did a great job but still feel as though we were shortchanged. I hope you dump Jerry as one of your “excellent” captains.
