Despite recent heavy winds in Key West, inshore fishing has been exceptionally productive. Anglers are experiencing abundant catches of various snapper species, including mutton, lane, and yellowtail snappers. Additionally, there’s been plenty of action with sharks, barracudas, and mackerels, providing thrilling rod-bending experiences. The current weather in Key West features mostly cloudy skies with temperatures around 77°F. The forecast for the upcoming days indicates pleasant conditions, with highs in the low 80s°F and lows in the mid-70s Despite the windy conditions, inshore waters have remained fishable, allowing anglers to enjoy excellent fishing opportunities. The presence of various snapper species such as the highly sought after mutton snapper , we've also filled coolers with mangrove yellowtail and lane snappers as well along with sharks, barracudas, and mackerels, has contributed to the dynamic and rewarding fishing experiences in the area. For those planning to fish in the coming days, it’s advisable to monitor weather updates as winter time conditions here in the tropics do change frequently and are sporadic

I have been focusing on the backcountry channels and flats targeting Mangrove Snapper, Mackerel, Speckled Trout and Goliath Grouper. Inshore fishing has remained consistent with the higher than normal wind conditions we have experienced over the past few weeks. I have been focusing on the backcountry channels and flats targeting Mangrove Snapper, Mackerel, Speckled Trout and Goliath Grouper. Snapper fishing has been very good producing catches in the 2-4lb range on a consistent basis with some larger fish in the mix. While targeting these Snapper I have also been dropping a big bait down for Goliath Grouper that provides excitement for all aboard. These fish have been averaging from 30lb to well over 100lbs and provide an ultimate battle on stand up gear, catching a couple of these Grouper is not uncommon. The Spanish and Cero Mackerel and a few Speckled Trout have been making their appearance as the water temps cool slightly. All of these species will continue to improve with the water cooling and the weather settling into our winter season. I encourage everyone to experience some of the best inshore fishing the Florida Keys has to offer this winter, multiple species that are readily available and fishing the backcountry provides opportunities even when it's windy.

We had a little wind and rain but nothing too crazy. Missed 4 days of being on the water. Here is a little report and some recent pics from our 35' offshore..... This month was a real mixed bag on our 24’ trolling, bottom fishing, reefs, backcountry, and lobster territory. Bottom fishing in the shallow/ calm backcountry has produced some high quality mangrove, lane, and mutton snappers in large numbers. Some trips catching their allowed limits. No shortage of big 100lb + lemon sharks that you’ll need to race for your dinner. Nicer weather days we have fished on the patch reefs just south of Key West. Red grouper, yellowtail snapper, and a verity of types of mackerel. Even did a catch n cook woth spadefish (a first for me). If you have lobster on your mind, well so do we! Many of our shallow water honey holes have been picked clean this late in the season. 6hr + lobster trips gave us enough time to run 20+ miles to areas with less pressure and they are still housing some quality bugs.
