Rockport Fishing Reports

Weekly fishing reports straight from the cameras and eyes of local guides in Rockport. It doesn't get better than this Rockport fishing report!

As fishing guides in Rockport get back on the water after the arctic blast, we'll continue to provide updates on the fishing, and the effects of the storm. General consensus: fishing has been great post-cold, shallow water areas were hit worse than others, and the total loss from the fish kill is still to be determined. However, many with eyes on the water suggest that the loss of wildlife isn't as extensive as originally predicted.

Fishing Reports from Rockport, Week of May 12th:

"Trout fair to slow soft plastics it starting to pick up on live shrimp on a popping cork up to 25”. Redfish fair to good on live shrimp shad and soft plastics up on the flats and tight to the bank. Look for a contour change! Black drum fair on dead shrimp, water temps from 74 to 80 degrees - with the warmer temps fish are starting to be a little more consistent and aggressive. Had another front come in with NE winds so look around the corner for your fish - they will still be in the area. One thing I have noticed is that the bait has been moving around. So find the bait!! Will be an interesting next couple days! Tight lines everyone be safe out there this weekend!"-Captain Larry

Fishing Reports from Rockport, Week of July 9th:

"Rockport area- Speckled Trout are holding over sand, shell and grass. The bite is inconsistent, so if you catch a few fish over that type of structure, stick to it! If you stay patient, they will be there. Redfish will hide out over pot holes and grass, so look for grass and scattered shell.

In terms of lures, Mirrolures Watermelon Red is working well." -Captain Larry
