Week of 1/15 has been a great one. Lots of black seabass and ringtail porgies on the 4 hour trips. Recently the shallow triggers and beeliners haven't been cooperating but nothing to be mad about as Black Sea bass offer world class eating!
For the 6/8 hour offshore trips cobia fishing was world class with one 6 hour trip boasting double digit fish including a tagged 30+ pounder. The fish was originally caught in South Carolina at 32" overall in 2019 and recaptured 1200 days and nearly 300 miles away at 42" fork length.

Inshore the fish have been steady
with some days better than others. On the low tide mid day trips sightfishing has been the name of the game. With a low tide in the morning targeting holes has been the money.
Winter fishing is in full swing! Let's goooo fishin!

ey guys. Well, 2022 is in the books and 2023 is starting off pretty good. It has warmed back up since Christmas but the reds are still chewing. You can find them in the creek holes still but if you're looking to get on a few upper slot fish the flats are the place to be. They are schooled up nicely and the water is clear. As long as the wind isn't blowing too hard you can get up on them fairly easy.

The flounder bite has been better but you can still pick a few here and there in
the creeks and around the oysters.
Sheepshead and black drum are holding good in the creeks and the trout are holding in the creek holes and creek mouths at lower tides. Mud minnows have been the bait of choice for most but shrimp will be your go to for the sheep's and drum.

Inshore fishing has been awesome in the skiff. With cooling water fish have been stacked up in their usual winter time haunts. Black drum now moving with the schools of reds too for some bonus catches. Offshore black seabass fishing is off the chain on the short 4/6 hour trips. Mixed with vermillion snapper and triggerfish. On the extended 10/12 hour trips trigger fish is the name of the game for meat haul. If the goal is hero or 0 lots of big wahoos have been hitting the deck with the cold weather. The redfish and flounder bite have been consistent. We’re still targeting them in creek holes and creek mouths on mudminnows or live shrimp with a 1/4oz jighead. Don’t shy away from using a popping cork with at least a 18" leader and 1/0 circle hook.
The trout bite has been good at times when water temps go down. Look for temps below 70 with good moving water for the best results using the same bait for flounder and reds.
A bycatch of sheepshead and black drum will round out a successful day and just for fun throw in some ladyfish...

Tis the season for trout. The water temperature has cooled off enough to trigger the bite. The trout have been stacked up in the creeks and are hungry. Target them in the creek corners and oyster bars on a popping cork or freeline a mudminnow for the best action.
Redfish are also stacked up in the creeks using the same tactics and bait. Numbers are sufficient to make for an exciting day on the water but most are under slot.
The big flounder are in and ready to eat. Target them along the ICW as well as creek holes using...

With water temps dropping sub 65* action in the main river has slowed to primarily trout with sheepshead available on nice days which are far and few between.
Water temps dropping doesn't mean slow fishing all the time though, in fact it's at its best in Jacksonville when it's cold. The best option for cold weather is 2 person flats boat trips. While the redfish limit has dropped to 1 per person in the last couple months it's reared it's head with an incredible bite from schools feeling way less pressure.
Offshore when fishable is absolutely on fire. Lots of...

Offshore when fishable is absolutely on fire. Lots of
nice catches bottom fishing and great Tuna and wahoo trolling on the 10/12 hour trips. Right now until spring is a great time for the 4/6 hour trips to seabass fish with the great possibility to get lucky on a 4 hour trip gag grouper as they push in shallow with cool weather.
Bonus pic of a super rare catch for us a small Warsaw grouper while Seabass fishing. Let's get out and fish!

We had an incredible fishing trip today with Elio! He went above and beyond to make sure my boys had an unforgettable time. From spotting dolphins to catching sharks and landing some absolute monsters, every moment was exciting. One of the highlights was letting my son throw the cast net. He had so much fun bringing in a ton of bait, and Elio made him feel like part of the crew. It was an experience my boys will be talking about for a long time. Elio truly knows how to make a fishing trip fun for the whole family. We would absolutely book another trip with him and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an amazing day on the water!

I cannot recommend Captain Dan highly enough. We booked him to take us out on the water to spread my mom and dad's ashes, and he made a very emotional day so much easier. He had absolutely everything we needed ready to go. His communication was outstanding leading up to the trip, during the day, and even checking in afterward. He took incredibly good care of our family and provided amazing support throughout the entire experience. To top it all off, he took some fantastic photos that we will cherish forever. Thank you, Captain Dan, for your professionalism and kindness!

Captain Jon was great. He was very knowledgeable of the area and where to go to find the best fishing. He communicates very well and was willing to work with us on the boat ram location due to a fishing tournament during the same time as our charter. He kept us informed and taught tips and tricks to help throughout our time with him. Next time we are in Jacksonville we will be looking him up again.
