Spring is coming soon, and love is in the air. Or the water. These sheep's heads are moving out to the oyster bars. And then to fifteen to thirty feet of water.
Best beats are fiddler, crabs, small shrimp sand flees and brined claws.
I prefer to use a fish
finder rig with number 1 or 1/0 hooks and the bare minimum wait to hold it down.
If you see a bunch of fish come to the surface, the bite should be shortly after.
Also our shrouders are starting to move out to the mouths of the creeks and on to the shallow flats.
Soft plastics on appropriately weighted jig heads work. The best, but a shrimp-tipped jig head will catch them, and you'll also get flounder and black drum...
If you'd like to see this firsthand book a trip.

With the cold cold temps. We're using live shrimp on on a jig head or a carolina rigg crawling them across the bottom, painfully slow. Also, soft plastics on jigheads are catching large over slot trout and the occasional red fish

Offshore,
we have one more weekend of red. Snapper, open until june. The bite has been decent.
Live sardines and thread, fin herring work best, but frozen will get the job done.

Merry christmas!

The big trout are leaving the creeks and fattening up for the spawn. Lots of things work pinfish, mud minnows, shrimp. But the go to is a eighth ounce jig head red or pink works best with a soft plastic in is gold and glow, golden brim or watermelon regulator....

It's time to start herding sheepshead. We look for them on structure in 25 yo 50 feet of water. A Crustacean of your choice, With a enough lead to hold it down and a small hook. I prefer eagle claw Style 85, they are good and sharp right out of...

I prefer eagle claw Style 85, they are good and sharp right out of the package and cheap, easy enough to cut off and retire. Moose has a very respectable fish

With the temperature fluctuating so much the fish like to find deeper holes, many different baits are working. Jigheads are the best, I prefer soft plastics like the saltwater assassin, as far as color I can't nail one down. Shrimp also work well, 1/4 Jighead moved painfully slow. We have...

Trout are on fire. Edges of holes, channels edges and any place where the water temperatures are stable. It is hard to beat your favorite soft plastics on a jig head. If the bite slows add a popping cork.

Happy Thanksgiving. As we celebrate the bounty of the fall, the weather is turning colder. The response by mother nature is to add a layer of fat. So the bite is on fire, the places are deeper holes and channel edges with decent flow. My favorite baits this time of year are soft plastics on a jighead or shrimp on a jighead. We have plenty of dates available, if weather permits red snapper are in fairly close.

TJ was as knowledgeable as any guide, he was talented at his craft and worked hard. He also was clear in his instructions and put me in the best position for my casting ability. TJ also spent time instructing my fishing partner. He was a great conversationalist and was a pleasure to spend the day with. I will definitely schedule more trips with TJ.
