The water temperatures went from 49.2 to 62 degrees in the span of a week. The fish are very scattered, almost all the shrimp moved out of the marsh and the spawning is in their mind so all this combined makes the "catching " challenging. The good news is with weather patterns and temps settling the bite is going to be very very good starting this coming week

In the last 7 days. Catching plenty because of hard work!!! Anglers are complaining about fish being in very odd patterns due to temperatures all over up and down, and atmospheric pressures the same but I am still finding them!!!

January Inshore Fishing Report — Delacroix, Louisiana
January is a great month to be on the water in Delacroix as winter patterns settle in across the marsh. Cooler temperatures often bring more stable fishing, and this time of year consistently offers solid inshore action for anglers targeting redfish, speckled trout, and other marsh species.
Overall January Conditions
With winter in full swing, fish tend to gather in areas that offer steady water movement and comfortable temperatures. This makes January a productive month for exploring deeper bayous, protected marsh ponds, and areas with good tidal flow. Clearer winter water can also...

Clearer winter water can also lead to increased visibility, giving anglers more opportunities to locate feeding fish.
Redfish Action
Redfish remain a reliable target throughout January. They can be found cruising shorelines, holding near structure, or settling into calmer pockets of the marsh. This is a great month for steady redfish action, whether you're looking for slot fish or hoping to tangle with larger fish that roam the system this time of year.
Speckled Trout
Speckled trout fishing can be productive during winter as they group together in areas with consistent conditions. Whether fishing deeper water or working areas with active tide movement, trout continue to be a popular target for inshore anglers during January.
Other Inshore Species
Black drum, sheepshead, and other winter-friendly species are also common across the marsh this month. These fish offer great action and are perfect for anglers looking to keep rods bending.

We had a great time out with these guys. Hit a 2 man limit on drum on top of redfish and other species. Got to see a ton of wildlife. Very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. Would highly recommend.
What a great day. Me and my 2 sons fished with Captain Jacob and had an amazing day. Had 3 limits of red by 7:00 a.m. and continued to catch reds non stop for about another almost 2 hours. Even managed to pick up a handful of specks on the way in. Will definitely book another trip with him.
Captain Shawn. Did an excellent job on a difficult windy day. One us was able to limit out on the Reds. Would go back again with him if we have the the chance.
I had a great time with Ronald. He was a joy to fish with. My bucket list was to get a Red fish and a Speckled trout and we were complete on the list. THANKS
10/10, highly recommend! Knowledgeable, pleasant captain. Got to experience catching the Alligator Gar and several other species of fish during our trip.
