Winter time fishing has been solid throughout the south Padre Island area. Snook and large trout remain plentiful in the Brownsville ship channel. Many of my trips have been with less experienced anglers and we have been focusing on speckled trout in deeper water with great success. The wonderful thing about being this far south is that "winter "means the temperature dropped into the 60s with highs near 80s during the day. First week of aug. fishing the shrimpboats were dragging in 50 fathom. Too many bonita to get a bite from a blackfin tuna so we pulled the hooks off the lures. Everything was working great. Wait for the blackfin, stop throw bait. Started trolling again theres the bonita then the blackfin then out of nowhere 3 of the biggest Yellowfin tuna came up and pushed everything out of the way. I ran downstairs and grabbed the biggest reel and bait we had. Instant hook up. 4 hours later in the boat. 215 pound yellowfin tuna.

48" Bull red caught on a live mullet of ICW drop off by the shacks in Arroyo City Tx. Using light tackle 3000 shimano Sahara with a 7' rod light medium action. Took close to 25 minutes to bring in this big boy. Safely released to fight another day.

Hunting here in South Padre Island has been really good after the cold front came through. Jason and Kaeden are excellent shots, and we were picking out the biggest Spragues this morning. We had multiple pintails land in the decoys, and we let them fly off looking for trophies this morning; we shot all of our pintails and redheads. They're going to shoot the rocket off this afternoon at 4

Josh and I had an awesome afternoon hunt with this big cold front that came in. There are ducks absolutely everywhere - big flocks of redheads, shovelers, pintails, and blue bills. The tides have been a little struggle, but my Mud Boat is running really well and I can get to shallow water everywhere now. If you would like to book a hunt, give me a call.
