Bass are beginning to settle into summer patterns and are increasingly grouping into schools around submerged vegetation in 5–15 feet of water. Neko-rigged creature baits have been producing the most reliable action, while topwater stick baits have been a great
option for targeting active fish feeding higher in the water column. Anglers who spend time covering water and locating productive stretches of vegetation are finding the best success, with opportunities to catch multiple fish once an active group is located.

The most consistent action has been coming on drop-shot rigged finesse worms and Neko-rigged creature baits worked through shallow grass flats. Once an active group of fish is located, anglers are
often able to catch multiple bass from the same small stretch of water. Overall, the bite has been solid with steady action throughout the day.

Lake Austin is at a normal level with clear water and about 4–6 feet of visibility. Water temperatures are around 65°, and bass are in all phases of the spawn. Fish are holding shallow across the lake, and it’s common to run into small groups that can produce quick flurries of action before things slow down again.

The most consistent bite has been coming on finesse presentations, especially drop-shot rigged worms and Texas-rigged stick worms worked through submerged vegetation on the main lake. Anglers have been finding success by focusing on productive grass areas, where bass are staging, spawning, or...

January 2026- Lake Travis - fish are out deep on ledges and channel swings in 30 to 40 ft, fish very slowly with soft plastics like a drop shot or wacky worm, jigs with craw trailers also working well with a slow presentation, when the bass are feeding and a little bit more active we are catching them on umbrella rigs, small finesse swim baits, and crank baits with a very tight wobble like a rapala shad rap.

We hooked this Redfish by Picnic Table Point, fought it all the way to the Dam. Roughly a 15 minute battle. We weighed it at 22 pounds. It was the first 20 pound Redfish that was landed in my boat in about 6 years.

Lake Bastrop-12/4- water temp 67, lots of bass shallow right now, can catch these fish with spinnerbaits and flukes, worms also working well on outside edge of the grass, you can rig these on a drop shot or neko rig to stay weedless

Tyler is amazing! We lost count how many fish were caught. My son left saying it was the most exciting fishing trip of his life. Tyler has become the man, the myth, the legend, and if you are considering going fishing at Canyon Lake book right away with Tyler.

My son and I recently went on a guided trip with Derek and we could not be happier! Originally we were scheduled for Lake Austin, but Derek had gotten some news that we should hit Lake Travis instead, and it definitely paid off! His knowledge of the lake and guidance with us novice fishermen (and just a good guy all around) led to some fun results!

Derek did a great job. Even though the weather was a little cold and the fish weren’t too hungry, we hit multiple different spots and everyone on the trip landed something! We also nearly landed a 25 pound mega catfish that would’ve been a personal best! All in all, awesome day, awesome guide.
