May has been a challenging month for fishing due to a lot of windy days, but we have still managed to reel in some great catches.
Blacktip sharks have been particularly active, with many being caught near the shore and around jetties. These sharks are known for their acrobatic jumps and fighting spirit, making them a popular target for sport fishermen.

Redfish have also been biting well in May, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. These fish are known for their hard fight and delicious taste, making them a popular catch. We have had success using mullet, shad and blue crabs as bait.
Gafftop sail catfish have been another common catch in May, especially in the shallow flats and at the jetties. While not as prized as redfish or sharks, gafftops can still provide plenty of fun for anglers and are known for their strong runs and head-shaking fights.
Finally, black drum have also been biting well in May, especially around oyster reefs and other structure. These fish are bottom feeders and can be caught using crab or shrimp on a bottom rig. Black drum are known for their size and strength, with some reaching over 50 pounds in weight.
Overall, May has been a mixed bag for fishing, with some great catches of blacktip sharks, redfish, gafftop sail catfish, and black drum despite the windy conditions.
Lots of fresh run off. Fresh on top and salty on bottom. Fishing is still slow. I did managed to catch a good limited of trout before the rain came. The Galveston jetties still holding a few fish using live shrimp. West bay is a good place to fish the fresh water doesn’t hurt that bay. Next full moon the trout will be spawning always remember all fish spawn on a full moon. Thanks and good luck fishing.

The bite has really picked up in the last couple of weeks. Shrimp under popping cork. Top water bite is awesome early morning and throwing plastic for Flounder and Trout!

Galveston bay is still putting up some nice stringers. Artificial and live shrimp have been working on the speckled trout. Live shrimp have been the ticket for redfish.

Fishing is in full swing. With consistent weather, winds and water temperatures the fish have congregating in the same area of being able to locate them relatively in that same location every day. Fishing has been beyond great and will continue to get better with the consistency of these water temperatures and weather.

In Galveston West Bay Reds and Flounder have been equally consistent on both artificials and live bait. Trout have been up and down as far as numbers per trip but will be picking up more and more as the month goes on.
