Another fun family trip on Lake Conroe today! 🎣😁 Had a dad, mom, and son on the boat today. Dad and son had very little fishing experience, and Mom had never fished before! Well, wouldn’t you know it, Mom ended up catching the BIG fish of the day at 5 pounds, 5 ounces! 😂🎣 The son now has a personal best of 3 pounds, 9 ounces to beat! Today’s customers were a father and son. Dad brought a small cooler and said 15 catfish was all they needed to take home. Well, they got their 15 plus a couple more! 😁🎣 After putting over 50 cats back in the lake, they were getting a little bored with the catfish 😂, so for their last hour they were ready to give crappie fishing a try for their first time. Had a father-and-son team out with me today for a half-day fishing trip! 🎣 They traveled all the way from England to experience some Texas fishing on Lake Conroe. Everything was new to them, and it was the first time either one of them had ever caught a catfish. Today’s half-day customers were two cousins. I really enjoyed meeting them and spending time on the water with them. Both were retired from the Air Force, and they sure enjoyed cutting up and laughing! There were several firsts for them today: their first time on Lake Conroe and their first time fishing with LiveScope. We had a few missed opportunities and a couple that came off at the boat, but once they started getting the hang of how to trick those finicky crappie into biting, they put together a nice mess of fish. Another good outing on Lake Conroe yesterday (6/19/2026). My half-day trip was with two customers from Louisiana who wanted to catch crappie, or as they call them back home, sac-a-lait.
We had a great day on the water, and the crappie were cooperating. My customers came close to a one-man limit, but with the weather moving in, we decided to head back a little earlier than planned. Better safe than sorry. We found fish in 15 to 25 feet of water, with water temperatures holding in the mid-80s. Minnows were the bait of choice. They had the Crappie Rods working!

Had a great time today with some old friends! We couldn’t pin down the exact year, but it’s been at least 25 years since the three of us were together at the same time. We shared a lot of laughs reminiscing about old memories and stories from years ago. They had to work hard for the bite today, but still managed to take home a good mess of fish. 😁 Ronnie was using minnows, but eventually switched to a jig after realizing he was being outfished by John, who was using jigs from TMT Fishing and Hand Tied Jigs. Enjoyed fishing with my son-in-law (Dana Walker) today! It was his first time using LiveScope, and while there was a little bit of a learning curve, he caught on quickly. He said he wanted a limit of crappie, and that’s exactly what he got — and then some! We fished in 14 to 25 feet of water, and the bait of choice today was minnows along with a chartreuse/black jig from TMT Fishing and Hand Tied Jigs. Water temperature was 79–81 degrees. Great day on the water!

Since they were being released, the crappie didn’t seem to mind playing along. 😂 They ended up catching and releasing double digits there as well.
After that, it was all about relaxing, kicking back, and enjoying some quality time together on the boat. Water temp was mid 70’s. We fished 15 to 25fow. The crappie were not interested in the minnows as much as they were the chart/white and pink/black jigs.
