Islamorada Underwater Coral Gardens Fishing Reports (July 2026)

With the fall season upon us, the heat has broken and the weather is nice. We are getting a steady catch of Speckled Seatrout of nice size. We are also catching the juvenile Tarpon around the same areas. The Snook are biting pretty good you just have to get them to the boat before the sharks can get them. Overall, the keys are pretty quiet as far as tourist go, so we have lots of fishing grounds that are virtually private to us this time of year.

Ken Morris and son Henry, came down for a morning of fishing in the back country near Flamingo in Everglades National Park. Managed several snook and redfish. Was a great morning for sure!

Aldo Palombo, enjoyed a day on the water with Capt GW. Managed to hook 7 snook and a redfish on artificial baits!

Capt GW had the day off so what does he do? Takes the family out for a quick snook trip. Landed 4 of 6 snook in about 45 minutes of fishing before the girls all decided it was time for ice cream at Flamingo! Weather is hot but the fishing is hotter!

Had a guest appearance from a small Goliath grouper while catching a few mangrove snapper for a fish fry.

Steve Venini came out for a day of fly fishing in Florida Bay. Wound up landing 4 of 5 snook and two redfish.

Another good day on the water with Jim LaPointe. Had some absolute great weather and great fishing. several snook and reddish and a baby tarpon on fly. Love this time of the year.

The fishing has been good on the reef.

A fun 4 hour morning reef trip today. We got throw back groupers (2 Short Reds and a protected Nassau) some delicious yellow jacks. This Angler got to fight some sharks too. The water was 1-2ft waves and we fished between 15ft and 80ft of water

Mahi has been good anywhere from 500 to 1000 ft off key largo. Fish have been 15 to 20 lbs with plenty of schoolies in the mix. Trolling feathers pink and blue tipped with bonita strips. Small blackfin on tuna flies trolled behind the spread.
