The bay fishing has remained decent throughout the past weeks. The weather has been great and the fish are biting. Catching solid speckled trout on soft plastics that resemble natural colors. Mullet replica type paddle tail worms have been my "go to "artificial baits. Catching reds on the higher wind days out on grass flats. Fresh cut bait and soft plastics are producing solid redfish strikes. Gold spoons on brighter days are working some days. The best thing about fishing at this time of the year is the drop in the amount of other boats and fishermen on the water....

Another brutal windy day down here in South Padre Island, so I went to my mangrove snapper trap line again did really well fish for four hours. Three people caught some really nice mangroves in a 40 mile an hour wind.

Fishing was really good. I hid the best I could out of the wind, we caught a ton of mangrove snapper, a few short redfish, a bunch of stingrays and a bonus black grouper everybody had a blast it was Maverick’s first time on a boat.

The 24/25 South Season Duck Opener is about to kick off with good expectations in the forecast. Think this will be another good season down here on the coast. Seeing some redheads and pintails starting to migrate into bay systems. Actually saw some Rudy ducks, teal, pintails and redheads on a recent fishing charter. According to Ducks Unlimited the 2024 waterfowl population survey showed an increase in breading ducks for the first time since 2015. On October 15 -TPWD biologists reported an increase in duck numbers also. Anyways, think it's going to be a good season down here around South...

We just need cold fronts to push the northern birds down to us.
Fishing down here in South Padre Island has been steady. We've been concentrating on mangrove snappers lately. They are fantastic eating and are very plentiful. The wind has been blowing quite hard down here so I've been in the ship channel quite a bit staying out of the wind. When the wind dies down, I'm able to sneak offshore. Last Saturday we had a beautiful day. I ran 6 miles offshore and we landed about 75 red snapper, quite a few short fish, being that it is towards the end of the season, but the action bite was fantastic. Caught...

Caught one really nice cobia and had a couple others on that broke off. For duck hunting with the extreme warm temperatures all over the country the ducks have really not shown up yet. Minnesota is finally starting to freeze at night. I know Colorado has got snow everywhere so the duck should be on their way soon. Speaking of ducks for you birders, we have beautiful Roseate spoonbill gathering for picture perfect photos. The dolphin enthusiasts, we have plenty of playful dolphins on view each boat ride.
My wife and I took off this morning a little later than we usually head out, we went looking for mangrove snapper. a delicious eating fish that are very numerous down here in South Padre Island I didn’t take very good pictures, but we caught anywhere from 25 to 30 of them in a couple hours on live shrimp. This is a fantastic trip for kids or adults that just wanna catch lots of fish .
