It's been pretty cold down here recently... but the sheep's head bite has still be consistent and the redfishing has been great post front when it warms up a little.

Exciting time here along the forgotten coast. There's chrome in the water. In the last week, things have really turned around. Our weather patterns have gotten their act together, the water has warmed up and the early season tarpon are showing up. We are getting them dialed in and launching silver king rockets every chance we can. Fishing tarpon around the correct tide allows for some fun days fishing redfish then changing gears and chasing tarpon.

The weather is starting to break here on the Forgotten Coast. Just in time for spring break, redfish are invading the flats, and oh boy, are they hungry? Fish have been seen cruising the outside bars and chasing the tide up to the shoreline. A well-placed fly, soft plastic, or gold spoon has been getting the job done. Take a trip south to Apalachicola and let me introduce you to our hot inshore fishery.

Apalachicola fishing is heating up as the weather turns cold. Redfish are haunting the creeks and flats, foraging on everything they can find to eat. Soft plastics and flies make excellent offerings this time of year. Off the beaches Bull redfish are starting to invade the shoals and inshore sandbars, chasing schools of baitfish and shrimp. Poppers and topwaters have been getting smashed with explosive frequency. All in all, if you can brave the cold, the fishing is quite hot!

Fall time along the Forgotten Coast makes for some unforgettable outdoor experiences! Gator hunts have been doing very well! 24 gators harvested so far this season with largest being 10'6". Scalloping in St Joe Bay has produced very good harvests however finding them in the turtle grass has been somewhat difficult, season ends September 24th. Nighttime flounder gigging has been on fire with plenty of other species also filling up the coolers like large sheepshead, mullet, & black drum. Redfish starting to heat up with cooler water temps arriving. Live shrimp on jigheads & Carolina rigs have been producing best.
