Fall Fishing is in full swing on South Padre Island. Rarely do I say this, but Fishing for all species has been unbelievable save for Tarpon off the beachfront which will likely push further south with the passing of today's cold front. If you have ever thought about making a trip down to this area, now is the time.

Captain Mikes South Padre Fishing Report 9/16/26. The bay fishing has been tougher throughout this past month. Water temperatures and overall weather has been hot! Still catching some solid speckled trout out of deeper water drop offs. Catching some flounder and reds. Most of the fish are hanging in the deepest water they can find. Typically we get rain and some weak northerly winds push through South Texas throughout September. Once temperatures start to drop I would suspect that the redfish will start cruising the grass flats in search of prey. The bite should only get better once the weather...

The bay fishing has been tougher lately, but we are still catching some solid fish. This super hot weather has pushed most of the fish into deeper waters. Catching some heavy speckled trout on both live and artificial baits. Working the deepest water I can find with heavy rigs and slow-moving baits. Catching a few redfish out on the grass flats once the wind starts to pick up. Expect the bite to get better throughout the next couple of weeks.
