Putah Creek is somewhere I have a long history with, one of the original "Home Waters" I have been guiding since 1984 along with the Stanislaus, Calaveras and Mokelumne rivers.
When asked about my favorite places to fish or guide, I always share the fact that Putah is perhaps the most exciting still because at certain times of the year, you never know what you may hook into! I can't tell you how many clients have caught or hooked fish that would be considered the fish of a lifetime....

A few things make it special also would be small flies, (Tiny actually), light tippets and super smart fish, one of the best places to hone nymphing skills that will serve you well anywhere in the world! I learned my techniques there, along with the other waters mentioned, and developed certain presentations for certain runs, like different shots in Golf for different lies and holes( For you Golfers)....

The Delta is still hanging in there with water temps. and clarity totally fine, for those of you you may have trouble wading, a day on the Delta is always fun with the Waterfowl migration in full swing along with daily sightings of Osprey, Otters and the occasional Mink....
