The Dog Days of Summer
What can be said, it is HOT!, the weather that is. Catching redish and trout freelining live shrimp or croaker along the rocks. If you move away from the jetties out on the beach front its sharks aplenty with cut bait.
As we move thru August and into September the over sized Red drum (Bull Reds) will start showing in the channel and surf. Have to get out early and get it done.

Galveston bay has been producing some extraordinary fishing recently. Early limits of big trout along with some bonus flounder and redfish. As a guide it is my job to understand what makes these fish do what they do. A combination of wind, tide movement and water salinity can play a huge part in where the majority of fish will be in the bay. It all comes together to make a successful fishing trip.

Weekly fishing report

Happy Fathers Day! It's been a bit of a rough week out on the water, with some offshore trips having to be cancelled due to high winds and seas. But we finally managed to get out there and let me tell you, it was worth the wait.
Offshore, Capt Steve found the big red snapper and they were biting like crazy. These fish were bigger than my ex's attitude. It was a real workout, but the reward was some delicious snapper meat. Inshore, we caught some Frisky redfish, jacks, and catfish.
And of course, we can't...

And of course, we can't
forget about the sharks. They were circling our boat like a bunch of highway workers standing around a hole in the ground.
Short story Wind, waves, and a whole lot of fish. It's been a wild ride, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Until next time, tight lines and good luck out there!

Galveston bay complex is in great shape, the water is clearing with high tide. Overall fishing is very good catching specks, redfish and lots of pan fish. Using live shrimp or live croakers. It's a great time to get the kids out for a fun fishing trip. Thanks, Captain Mike.

Fishing has been great these last trips since coming off of vacation. Throwing a mix of live and artificial on Sunday and all artificial on Monday. Flounder Trout and Reds have been consistent and we were even able to catch some really nice fish throwing topwater lures.

May has been a challenging month for fishing due to a lot of windy days, but we have still managed to reel in some great catches.
Blacktip sharks have been particularly active, with many being caught near the shore and around jetties. These sharks are known for their acrobatic jumps and fighting spirit, making them a popular target for sport fishermen.

Redfish have also been biting well in May, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. These fish are known for their hard fight and delicious taste, making them a popular catch. We have had success using mullet, shad
and blue crabs as bait.
Gafftop sail catfish have been another common catch in May, especially in the shallow flats and at the jetties. While not as prized as redfish or sharks, gafftops can still provide plenty of fun for anglers and are known for their strong runs and head-shaking fights.
Finally, black drum have also been biting well in May, especially around oyster reefs and other structure. These fish are bottom feeders and can be caught using crab or shrimp on a bottom rig. Black drum are known for their size and strength, with some reaching over 50 pounds in weight.
Overall, May has been a mixed bag for fishing, with some great catches of blacktip sharks, redfish, gafftop sail catfish, and black drum despite the windy conditions.

Had a great time with Captain Ryan. We limited out on speckled trout and learned some new techniques. Good teacher and patient with our inexperienced group. Would hire him again!

We had a great fishing trip with Ryan in the Intracoastal near the San Bernard River. Caught 8 keepers but had lots of action that we caught and released. Very knowledgeable. Our grandson had a ball!
