Inshore fishing in sarasota continues to remain very good. We are bringing home limits of mangrove snapper that are finishing out their spawn, the snapper will continue to bite for the next few weeks as we transition into our fall pattern. Snook are starting to make their way back into the bay and are transitioning getting ready to head back into the creeks and rivers. We are catching decent size snook at the higher stages of the tide around mangroves. Shots at juvenile Tarpon are being had early in the morning as they roll on the surface. Spotted sea trout are starting to make good showings on the edges of deeper grass flats, some smaller schools of Spanish mackerel and bluefish are also around the deeper grass flats. We are catching plenty of live white bait in the morning and that has proven to be key for a successful trip.

Majority is caught on big ole cut baits

In the bay we’re catching mangrove snapper and grouper. We’ve been using a #2 circle hook with 14 pound leader for the snapper and 30 pound leader for the grouper. Cut bait on the hook and free line back with the chum. On the flats, we’re using live and dead thread ins and greenbacks to catch bull redfish and snook. Mostly smaller snook in the flats. Dead Bait is working just as good as live bait. Bite has been good on the snook as well.

Havnt been catching high quantities of fish but definitely quality if you're willing to put the time in and grind it out. The high water temps make the fish lethargic, and they aren't willing to exert a lot of energy to chase a bait down, practically have to hit them in the head with it and cross your fingers they don't spook
