The bay fishing has remained decent throughout the past weeks. The weather has been great and the fish are biting. Catching solid speckled trout on soft plastics that resemble natural colors. Mullet replica type paddle tail worms have been my "go to "artificial baits. Catching reds on the higher wind days out on grass flats. Fresh cut bait and soft plastics are producing solid redfish strikes. Gold spoons on brighter days are working some days. The best thing about fishing at this time of the year is the drop in the amount of other boats and fishermen on the water. Great time to stretch some lines and hook into some solid fish.

Another brutal windy day down here in South Padre Island, so I went to my mangrove snapper trap line again did really well fish for four hours. Three people caught some really nice mangroves in a 40 mile an hour wind.

Fishing was really good. I hid the best I could out of the wind, we caught a ton of mangrove snapper, a few short redfish, a bunch of stingrays and a bonus black grouper everybody had a blast it was Maverick’s first time on a boat.

The 24/25 South Season Duck Opener is about to kick off with good expectations in the forecast. Think this will be another good season down here on the coast. Seeing some redheads and pintails starting to migrate into bay systems. Actually saw some Rudy ducks, teal, pintails and redheads on a recent fishing charter. According to Ducks Unlimited the 2024 waterfowl population survey showed an increase in breading ducks for the first time since 2015. On October 15 -TPWD biologists reported an increase in duck numbers also. Anyways, think it's going to be a good season down here around South Padre. We just need cold fronts to push the northern birds down to us.

We did a cast and blast trip with Glenn, and from start to finish it was an incredible experience. It was my first time duck hunting, and Glenn made the entire day feel effortless. He’s one of the most genuine, down to earth people you’ll meet, and he really knows his stuff. On the fishing side, he put us on the fish immediately. We limited out on trout, picked up some reds, and even caught a flounder we had to release. He was patient, knowledgeable, and made the whole trip feel smooth and enjoyable. And the duck hunting… I haven’t had that much fun in a long time. It was relaxing, exciting, and just an unforgettable experience. The birds were on today, and we knocked down a limit within the first 10–15 minutes. I’d never seen so many ducks up close.. hearing them land and work the decoys was something I’ll never forget. The whole time, we felt guided, taken care of, and genuinely welcomed. We had great conversations, plenty of laughs, and just an all-around amazing time. Thanks again, Glenn. We’ll be seeing you again in a few weeks. 10/10 highly recommended.
