My son and I spent the afternoon with Captain Ben today. From the very minute I booked, Captain Ben was very quick with communication and worked hard to make our trip happen. We had an AWESOME time with him! We covered a LOT of fishing ground and it was apparent that he really knows the local waters and did everything he could to put us on the fish! The boat was comfortable, we never ran out of bait and he was very attentive to rebating hooks and taking off fish for us. The day was everything I expected and more! Capt Ben is very easy to get along with and I would book again with him in a heartbeat!

I cannot say enough good things about Captain Ben and the awesome fishing adventure we went on! I came to Islamorada on my first ever solo vacation. I wanted to get some fishing in but with me being by myself I couldn’t justify spending the amount of money that most charters charge. That’s when I found Captain Ben who had a great deal on a ½ day Back Country trip. I was reluctant to book at first but I did, and I am very happy with the experience. First, Captain Ben accepted a last minute booking because I wasn’t sure I was going to go. We met up at the boat ramp, got some shrimp for bait and took off to have some fun! A dolphin came up and swam in the boat’s wake when we were in the creek. Throughout our fishing adventure I found Captain Ben to be down to earth and just a good dude. My experience was as if we were two buddies out fishing together. He knows where the fish are! I caught so many fish today! I caught a barracuda, several snapper, a few bone fish, and several sharks! We had a great time! We went to a few different areas and each time fished a little differently which was very nice. At one point we anchored and ambushed the fish as they came in from the Gulf! We had 4 poles baited in the water and a few times we had a couple rods bending at once! Truly incredible experience! Captain Ben baited the hooks for me. I really didn’t have to do much at all but enjoy the fishing! Captain Ben is also a US Marine Veteran! He also runs a non-profit organization called Veterans R&R Fishing. Just a really good guy! I’ll definitely fish with him again when I’m back down in the area! Do yourselves a favor and book with Captain Ben NOW! I promise you will not be disappointed!

Captain Ben was great. Captain Ben knew right where to put the boat to get fish, he was personable, knowledgeable, and patient, Captain Ben provided all the equipment, baited the fishing polls for us and took the fish off the hook. We caught a ton of fish! Ben cleaned all our fish for us when we returned. We took them to nearby restaurant where they cooked it up! As an added bonus, we saw a couple dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles! We spoke with Captain Ben to book the trip and chatted with him before and after the trip - very helpful and friendly. He helped us choose the type of trip that would be best for us. I highly recommend Leatherneck Backcountry Fishing.
