The trout slam is a fishing challenge where anglers attempt to catch three or more species of trout consisting of brook, brown, cutthroat, lake, golden, bull, and rainbow trout. Five of these trout species have a relatively large range which makes it possible to complete a trout slam in several states. The best place to find a variety of trout species is by fishing bodies of water located within any of the three major mountain ranges of the United States.
