• What is a leader?

A leader is a section of fishing line or material that is placed between the main fishing line and the hook, lure, or bait. It serves multiple purposes in fishing, including providing abrasion resistance against underwater obstacles, reducing the visibility of the fishing line, and protecting against the sharp teeth of certain fish species. Leaders come in various lengths, thicknesses, and materials, such as fluorocarbon or monofilament, depending on the fishing conditions and target species. They are attached to the main line using knots or connectors and are an essential component of many fishing setups, especially in situations where stealth and durability are important for successful fishing.
