Skinny water is a slang term commonly used by anglers and fishing guides to describe shallow water that is usually inaccessible to most boats. Specially designed boats are used to navigate through “skinny water” which can be only a few inches deep to reach prime fishing spots. Sight casting is popular for anglers fishing skinny water since the fish are so close to the surface.
