Although we signed up for a guided trip with Marty, we were given a different guide, so we're afraid we can't review Marty at all. The guide we had did fine, I guess, but it was a bit discouraging to hear (from our guide) that Marty took another group out and they caught a ton of fish where they went, while we didn't catch many at all. For the cost of the trip, this was disappointing. Customers should be aware that if your group is smaller, apparently Marty will go with a larger group/better pay and assign the smaller groups to people who work for him (we only had three in our group). Grateful that our boys still seemed to enjoy it, but we expected more for the amount we paid for the experience. When we read reviews and signed up with Marty, we expected Marty. Maybe this is somewhere in the fine print, and that's on us, so be sure you read everything before making a decision.

Captain was nice, but told us himself the weather/wind and waves made it basically unfishable. He tried his best to get us on fish, motors were unable to keep boat steady and he didn’t want to anchor, sadly didn’t get on any fish. Still tipped for efforts.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand how disappointing it can be when weather conditions impact a fishing trip, especially when you’re visiting from out of town and don’t have the flexibility to reschedule.

Prior to your trip, Captain Marty contacted you to discuss the forecasted wind and weather conditions and offered the option to reschedule. Understanding that rescheduling wasn’t possible due to your travel plans, we worked to provide an alternative by adjusting the trip location and having Captain Landan take you out in an effort to give you the best experience possible under the circumstances.

Unfortunately, weather on the Gulf can be unpredictable, and conditions can change quickly throughout the day. While the trip remained within safe operating conditions, the increasing wind and waves certainly made fishing more challenging than anyone would have liked. We appreciate Captain Landan’s efforts to continue searching for fish despite the difficult conditions.

We truly regret that the fishing did not meet your expectations and understand your frustration. We also appreciate your recognition of our captains’ communication and efforts throughout the trip.
