About Your Trip
Step aboard with Captain Jarred, a third-generation Cape Cod Bay captain who has been fishing these waters since he was a kid. He learned the trade from his grandfather, a longtime charter captain in the area, and grew up spending countless days on the bay alongside family members and other experienced captains. That early start helped shape decades of local knowledge that he now shares with guests on every trip.
With over 30 years of
fishing experience on Cape Cod Bay, Captain Jarred carries on a proud family tradition of guiding anglers and creating memorable days on the water. His own sons are already learning the ropes, continuing a legacy of Cape Cod fishing that spans generations.
This 3-hour trip is a great option for anglers who want to get out on the water and target some of the bay’s most popular species. Depending on the season and conditions, you may have the chance to catch Striped Bass, Bluefish, Black Sea Bass, Atlantic Mackerel, and Bonito. Other species like Flounder, Albacore, and even Mako Shark can also be found in these waters at certain times of year.
Captain Jarred uses a range of techniques to match the conditions, including spinning, trolling, drifting, jigging, and bottom fishing. He’s also experienced with specialized local methods like the tube-and-worm, a classic Cape Cod technique that has produced striped bass here for generations.
You’ll be fishing aboard a 25’ MayCraft sportfishing boat that can accommodate 6–8 guests. The boat is equipped with Garmin GPS and fishfinder, Furuno radar, a live bait well, and a Yeti cooler for your catch. A portable restroom is also onboard for convenience, along with a portable fighting chair that can be used when jigging or fighting fish.
All rods, reels, tackle, lures, and live bait are included. Early in the season, the crew often live-lines mackerel, while later in the year they frequently fish live worms on tube-and-worm rigs. If you land keeper fish, Captain Jarred will gladly clean and fillet your catch, taking pride in preparing clean, high-quality fillets for guests to take home.
Trips run with the help of an experienced first mate who assists with bait, gear, and landing fish throughout the trip. Mates work hard to ensure everyone has a great time, and a tip of 18% or more is customary.
These trips are family-friendly, and kids are welcome aboard. Be sure to ask ahead about child-sized life jackets, or bring your own if needed. Bringing along snacks and drinks is always a good idea so everyone stays comfortable during the trip.
Your fishing license is included with the charter, so all you need to do is show up ready to fish. Don’t forget sunglasses, a hat, and non-spray sunscreen. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but hard liquor and glass bottles should be avoided.
In addition to fishing trips, Captain Jarred also offers sandbar adventures, sunset cruises, whale watching, and scenic bay tours, making this a great way to experience Cape Cod Bay from the water. With generations of experience behind him, Captain Jarred looks forward to sharing the traditions of Cape Cod fishing with you.
