Captain Joe grew up in the small town of Hernando, Mississippi, and played football for the Ole Miss Rebels from 2003 to 2005.

He started bowfishing when he was 15 years old and has been passionate about it ever since. He began in local ditches and creeks until he had the opportunity to go bowfishing on a fan boat with a friend for the first time. That night, bowfishing took on a whole new meaning for him. He had never seen or shot at as many fish as he did that night. Inspired by this experience, he decided to invest in his own boat. After purchasing his boat, he dedicated himself to fishing and learning about as many lakes as possible, discovering numerous productive spots along the way.

Throughout his bowfishing journey, he has always enjoyed teaching others about the sport of shooting fish with a bow and arrow. Your hunt begins aboard Captain Joe’s custom-rigged 18’ river boat—an 1860 Alumacraft built specifically for bowfishing. Outfitted with a full surround of bright LED lights, this boat transforms dark riverbanks and shallow lake edges into a glowing underwater stage where your targets come into view. With space for up to 5 guests, it’s a perfect setup for groups looking to try something new or get competitive with their shots.

Captain Joe provides everything you need to succeed: top-quality bows, arrows, reels, and safety equipment are all included. He’ll walk you through the gear and guide you on technique so you can quickly get dialed in and start hitting fish. Depending on the conditions and location, you’ll target a mix of exciting species including Carp, Gar (Spotted, Longnose, and Alligator), Bowfin, Blue and Channel Catfish, Smallmouth Buffalo, Flathead Catfish, Shad, and even the occasional Snakehead.

While night trips are the most popular—thanks to cooler temps and glowing waters—Captain Joe offers trips around the clock, so you can choose the time that works best for your crew. Daylight hours can also produce solid action, especially in clear, shallow water.

This trip is kid-friendly and beginner-friendly, and you're welcome to bring snacks and drinks (just no glass). Bluetooth audio is available onboard, so feel free to bring a playlist to set the vibe.
