Just remember a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!

Let start by say we originally booked a trip through Tidewater and they canceled last minute due to my captain having engine issues… So then I had to scramble to try to find something else. I booked a trip online through Captain experiences. Trey with Captain Experience found me a different guide but only had evenings available. Should have backed out then but my teenage boys were pumped about catching some fish. Trey found us captain, Shawn, was a good person/guide. However, we never got further than maybe a 1/2 mile from where we put in. We fished with cut bait (basically for trash fish) and only caught 2 gafftops and a tiny white trout, which is pretty sad. One of the worst fishing trips I’ve ever been on. I understand that you can’t always catch fish but what do you expect when never you never leave the cove and fish with cut bait. Very sad attempt at trying to put us on some fish!

Sorry you didn’t enjoy your trip but late afternoon on the hottest day of year and west wind blowing 20 knots makes a horrible fishing trip on Mobile Bay. No place to hide from wind. Can’t make everyone happy and definitely don’t deserve a 1 star. Also I told you the conditions and what we were fishing for and you still wanted to go.

Let’s start off by saying you never fished in Alabama.Next the water temperature dropped 10 degrees in a week. I finally found some smaller redfish that were tricky to catch and your 3 grandchildren that were in there 20s did catch a few. Also I spent most my of time helping one out that never fished. It’s fishing not filling your freezer every trip. So sorry you didn’t enjoy your trip. But we did catch fish during the worst time of year. We tried every spot and stayed out till we ran out of bait. And definitely don’t be afraid to book online these guys are pros and Captain experience is a well run family company that I personally took fishing and caught 3 blue marlin in one day with one over 700lbs. It’s not nice to badmouth people because you didn’t catch. And again you have never fished in Alabama.

Every time we saw them he was sure to try to get them to interact with us. His boat was very nice and clean, you could tell he loved his boat. IT WAS AWESOME! We plan on a second trip with him to do offshore fishing next. We enjoyed his inshore trip and hospitality! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! One more thing… although we didn’t bring our 10 year old son I definitely would not hesitate to take him out on a Captain Shawn’s boat! He’s a family man, I could tell he would do great with younger passengers as well.

10/10 experience with Captain Shawn!!! He was so patient and knowledgeable! When putting on a new hook from our snag, he taught my 10 year old nephew a new fishing knot! He put us right in the fish and took us to a hot dolphin spot to see them in the wild! We had a FANTASTIC time!
