About Your Guide

20 Years of Experience
Profile photo of Captain Experiences guide Jon

To Captain Jon, fishing is tied very closely with family. After losing his mother to a battle with cancer, he decided to start guiding fishing trips and dedicating a percentage of his earnings to cancer research. Beyond the financial aspect, he learned the importance of connecting with each and every person he meets. Everyone has their own battles, and Captain Jon seeks to help everyone in their battle through fishing. Whether it be through quality conversation or the joy of a fish on a line, Captain Jon just wants to brighten your day.

Each time I take a cancer survivor fishing or fish with an individual that is going through their own battle with cancer it reminds me of the special time we all have together. I can tell you that the many smiles, the looks on their faces, and the numerous friendships made over the years for individuals around the world has helped ease the burden of my mother. That is why my charter's name has special meaning to me and my family. I can only hope that you can see that as well.

trip description for Gallivanting in the Gulf in Bonita Springs

Come aboard Captain Jon’s custom-built Mako 21' LTS hybrid flats/bay boat for a great day of fishing and exploring the waters of southwest Florida. The hull design allows for both skinny water fishing and a comfortable ride to the nearshore reefs if the weather delivers a slight chop. She’s powered by a Mercury 200 horsepower Mercury four-stroke engine providing plenty of power and reliability. Twin 12-foot MinnKota Talons aka ‘shallow water anchoring system’ which allows Captain Jon to anchor the boat without using an anchor, while the Minn Kota Ulterra Trolling motor will quietly sneak up on skittish redfish or move along mangrove shorelines in search of snook and other game fish. Your fishing experience will be made easier thanks to the new Humminbird Solix with One-boat network total boat control and GPS/depth sounder with Mega imaging. The sounder will allow Captain Jon to see the fish before you catch them! While out on the water you can expect to hook into Redfish, Snook, Speckled Trout, Permit, and even Tarpon when they're around. Captain Jon always knows what's biting best and can give expert advice on what species will be best to target on a given day. He also provides all the fishing gear you could possibly need for a successful day out on the water including bait, tackle, and fishing licenses. All Captain Jon recommends that you bring are your favorite snacks and drinks, and a desire to catch some fish! Read More
