To Captain Jon, fishing is tied very closely with family. After losing his mother to a battle with cancer, he decided to start guiding fishing trips and dedicating a percentage of his earnings to cancer research. Beyond the financial aspect, he learned the importance of connecting with each and every person he meets. Everyone has their own battles, and Captain Jon seeks to help everyone in their battle through fishing. Each time I take a cancer survivor fishing or fish with an individual that is going through their own battle with cancer it reminds me of the special time we all have together.
