I have been fishing on Florida's Nature Coast since I was a young kid and have spent countless hours perfecting my trade and learning the waters. Even though I have fished this coast my whole life, I learn something new every single trip out there! It all started fishing with my father on his boat and I first started out on my own with a fishing kayak. After the kayak, I upgraded to a cheap Jon Boat with a blown outboard motor, but the trolling motor worked and that's all I needed! Since then I have owned several boats from a Carolina Skiff, SeaFox Flats Fox, to the boat I now run my charters out of, The Beavertail Air 18!

Through my 20+ years of fishing I have learned the importance of Catch & Release fishing. It is crucial to take care of the resource and the fish. These fish offer us great memories, fun fights, amazing pictures, and the overall serenity of being out on the water searching for that bite. Why would we not protect and preserve them...

so we can pass on our love for fishing to future generations. I run charters for the love of the sport and the joy that comes from putting smiles on faces as people reel in fish and take pictures with them! There is nothing quite as rewarding as fooling that fish into eating an artifical lure, fighting it, and letting it go so we can catch it again another day!

I love to educate on my charters. If you want to learn about different fishing techniques and what makes fish do what they do, you will love my charters. I am a very hands on and patient Charter Captain. You just might get back to the ramp after a good day of fishing and wish you had a note pad to take notes! My clients are not just paying customers, I truly enjoy building a friendship with my clients so we can fish together for many years to come!

About Your Trip

Our Charters full day trips run from Sunrise to 2-4 PM, dependent on time of the year. Fishing trips from late November- early March offer the opportunity to launch later in the day and fish until 5:00 PM-sunset. Charter trips are available along Florida's Nature Coast, specifically the following locations; Crystal River, Yankeetown, Waccasassa, Suwannee, and Steinhatchee. Artificial lures are primarily used, but Live Bait is available upon request. Captain Josh encourages catching fish on lures and will teach anglers of any skill level how to be successful with this style of fishing. Redfish, Snook, and Speckled Trout are the primary target species but you also have the opportunity to catch Black Drum, Flounder, Jack Crevalle, and occasionally Cobia & Tripletail (Weather & Seasonal dependent).

Florida's Nature Coast is home to true "Old Florida". Many parts of the coast have not been developed or even touched by man. Not only is the fishing incredible, but the opportunity to see picturesque landscapes and abundant wildlife is evident every trip. Captain Josh not only has a tremendous amount of knowledge on inshore fishing on this coast, but is able to point out and talk about many of the wildlife species you will encounter out there. He truly has a passion for the resource and is an advocate for conservation. Besides the fish you catch, you may run into Dolphins, Sharks, Manatees, Sea Turtles, Alligators, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Hawks, Wild Hogs, and the elusive Salt Marsh Mink, just to name a few species. Being an advocate for conservation, this charter only practices catch and release fishing. No fish will be kept on these charters, this is a personal decision by the captain to do his part in preserving the resource. As Captain Josh always says, "Release today to catch tomorrow!"

Not only can you expect to catch fish, The Captain takes tremendous pride in his ability to teach anglers of any skill level. You will learn many different techniques of Light Tackle Fishing and when is the best time to use each one. You will get an explanation for why you are fishing certain zones, the best way to approach them, where the fish will be sitting in relation to the structure. While fishing all along the coast produces similar results, each location The Captain fishes presents different challenges and estuaries, making no two trips the same. If you truly love the sport of fishing, are eager to learn as much as possible on a fishing trip, and want some fantastic pictures of your catches, you won't regret booking a trip with Captain Josh!
