About Your Trip

Spend a day on the water with Captain Phil and discover why Tennessee is home to some outstanding fly fishing opportunities. Whether you're completely new to the sport, looking to improve your skills, or simply wanting to spend a relaxing day outdoors, Captain Phil offers a laid-back and personalized experience centered around enjoying time on the river.

Trips take place on the Caney Fork River, one of Tennessee's most popular trout fisheries, with full-day trips
also available on the Elk River and Obey River. Each river offers its own unique scenery and fishing opportunities, making every trip a little different. Please note that the Elk and Obey Rivers are located approximately 1.5 hours from Nashville, which is why a full-day trip is required for those destinations.

You'll spend the day fishing from a 16' drift boat, a great platform for covering water and accessing productive stretches of the river. Along the way, Captain Phil can provide as much instruction as you'd like, whether that means learning the fundamentals of fly fishing or picking up a few tips to sharpen your existing skills.

There's no need to worry about bringing fishing equipment. Captain Phil provides all the necessary gear, including fly rods, leaders, tippet, and flies. Full-day trips also include lunch, helping keep you fueled up and focused on enjoying the day.

Trips generally begin around 7:00 AM, though start times can be flexible when needed. Guests should bring polarized sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and neutral-colored, breathable clothing appropriate for the weather.

These trips are a great fit for anglers of all experience levels. While fishing conditions and fish behavior can never be guaranteed, Captain Phil will work hard to put you in productive water, share his knowledge, and help you make the most of your time on the river. Whether your goal is to learn the basics, refine your technique, or simply spend a day fly fishing in Tennessee, Captain Phil will do his best to provide a fun and enjoyable experience on the water.
