Spend a day chasing Crappie on some of East Texas’ most productive fisheries with Captain Garrett, where a mix of modern technology and proven techniques come together for a hands-on fishing experience. Most trips take place on Lake Fork, with opportunities to fish Lake Holbrook or Lake Winnsboro depending on conditions and where the bite is best.
A big focus of these trips is using LiveScope, giving you the ability to see fish in real
time and make precise casts. Accuracy is key, and Captain Garrett will help you dial in your approach so you’re not wasting energy making repeated casts. You’ll also use long jig poles—up to 14 feet—to stay on fish and present baits effectively.
Jigging with light tackle is the primary technique, but when the bite gets tough, live bait is available and often used to keep things productive. Expect to move throughout the day as needed to stay on active fish and make the most of your time on the water.
These trips are a great fit for anglers looking to learn as well as those wanting to refine their skills. Some fishing or casting experience is helpful, but Captain Garrett is happy to teach LiveScope fundamentals, how to read fish on the screen, and techniques to improve your success.
You’ll be fishing aboard a 21’ Skeeter bass boat built for efficiency and comfort, with space for up to 2 anglers. The boat is fully equipped with quality rods, reels, tackle, and safety gear, including wearable life jackets.
Live bait is provided when needed, and all gear is included—just be sure to purchase a valid Texas fishing license ahead of time. Bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and drinks for the day. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but avoid glass containers and hard liquor.
