About Your Trip

If stalking tailing Redfish and sight-casting to cruising Seatrout in crystal-clear backwaters sounds like your kind of day, then hop aboard with Captain Karty for an unforgettable adventure through Florida’s world-famous Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River.

With over three decades of guiding experience, Captain Karty has been running private charters since 1991—and his passion for the water is as strong today as it was on day one. Backed by a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential and
a Special Use Permit from the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Karty is your go-to expert for navigating this one-of-a-kind fishery just south of New Smyrna Beach and only an hour from Orlando.

You'll fish from a 19’ tunnel hull skiff—sleek, quiet, and built for skinny water. This boat can comfortably accommodate up to 4 anglers and glides effortlessly across the flats, getting you into those hard-to-reach backcountry spots where the big fish love to hide. With onboard features like a wireless trolling motor, GPS, fishfinder, and live bait well, you’ll be fully dialed in for a productive day.

Whether you're an experienced angler or bringing the family out for a first-time trip, Captain Karty tailors each outing to your experience level and goals. You’ll use light tackle and a variety of techniques—from spinning and jigging to popping or even fly fishing—to hook into Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Black Drum, Snook, Tarpon, and more depending on the season.

Trips typically run 4–5 hours with flexible start times, but if you're an early bird, Karty will gladly meet you at sunrise for first light action. You’ll be fishing calm inshore waters and shallow flats, so seasickness isn’t an issue—making this a great choice for families, kids, and those new to fishing.

Your trip includes everything you need: rods, reels, tackle, lures, live bait (when available), fishing licenses for all guests, and even fish cleaning for any legal catch you’d like to bring home. Captain Karty practices and promotes catch-and-release but is happy to clean and fillet your harvest upon request.

Just bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks, and drinks—and maybe a small cooler if you’d like to keep your catch cold on the ride back.

If you're looking for an authentic, hands-on fishing experience in one of Florida’s most pristine and productive ecosystems, this trip with Captain Karty is the real deal. Let’s go fishing and make some memories!
